Posted this on my FB page when it came out:

"what?! not only is his recommended plan pure lunacy, but so are his analogies. in attempting to refer to the partisan stalemate he could have used a better example than the civil war. as we all know - the secessionist were mostly members of the democratic party. a statue of the first elected republican president sits in a chair overlooking our national mall, the one who signed the emancipation proclamation, yeah that guy. apparently the democratic representative from illinois didn’t consider that? his handler needs to do a better job. getting really fed up with two-party politics!"

"Personally, I believe in liberty and the freedom to make your path as long as you do no harm to others or oppress other’s rights to express and do the same. I also believe that people should absolutely reap the consequences of their decisions and effort; whether the outcome is favorable or not. I despise bail outs and safety nets – no free lunch. You can’t regulate “how” people will spend those checks, nor would I want to. People have their own priorities. It’s like the Mercedes parked next to a single-wide. “..not everyone sees my house, but everyone sees me out in my car.” You can live that way, it’s your choice, just don’t ask me to make your car payment."

had some pretty good commentary from others who were upset by the suggestion of this plan. those driven to succeed will succeed, the others, well not so much.

socialism is not the ideal our country was founded on.

This is a superb idea. Absolutely marvelous. We should do it now. In fact, I think it would be better if we really stimulated the economy and gave everyone a weekly check for some modest amount...say, $10,000. Yes, that's every week.

Please note the lack of sarcasm.

However....I'm betting on gold and other commodities going up and the dollar going down. So I'm biased. Still, what's best for me is unlikely to be good for the country.

I recall a certain nation in Europe using hyperinflation, thus wiping out the savings of almost everyone. That didn't end well.

Than who is going to pay for it if everyone works for the government?
What i meant was that all the people who are on "extended unemployment benefits" could be doing something more productive than sitting on their ass looking for their dream job. (not getting paid 40K, just their current benefits)

they would likely find a job quickly after picking up trash or scraping gum off the sidewalk.
