Did it allow you to march or make facing movements as a unit? Did it make you work as a team? Did it build unit comradery?

If the answer is "yes" to those three, then it was not a failure, nor did you look like clowns.

Unit movements are intended to get a large number of troops into a particular order with the limited about of caos. Unlike university professors that build careers on indifferences rather than common ground - idealogies are discussed and reviewed. Nothing about "jokers" behavior made him wrong, nothing about his Plt Sgt punching him in the gut was wrong either. The lessoned learned was 'talking while he should have been listening'. The Drill Sergeant simply pushed his sensitivity button.

The general reaction to my comedy post and explanation can be summed up by this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpuRcmPnSTM

As I've already apologized, I'm going to stop defending it after this post.

This brings up the interesting dynamic in PS.com. Politicians and private citizens are regularly blasted for being too thin skinned or politically correct here. Freedom of thought and discussion is greatly encouraged here. However, (as is well within you the community/creators rights) when a QP or longstanding member doesn't like the joke then the authoritarian side moves in to make the correction.

Nevertheless, productive debate and multifaceted discussion still happens regularly here. I attribute that to the mental flexibility of the members here.

So the intent of having productive debate is met and if an undesirable has his ruck cast out into the hall another with a similar view can take that person's place and continue the mission. I think that's why this place is so alluring to people. The broader sensibilities of the board can be challenged, even if it is at risk to ones internet persona.

What is my point to this post I am making on ProfessionalSoldiers.

In my opinion your post is a clear example of regurgitating "what to think" and not "how to think". Your left-wing professors would be proud.
Since this is a generally conservative board I didn't think the joke would have carried if the DI was asking something like "PVT Joker, do you believe in Obamacare?" Hindsight is 20/20, it probably would have been funnier to you all if the DI represented the "liberal media" or the "American Sheeple." Unfortunately I've already burned up the material

I didn't have many liberal professors at USMA. Most of them were conservative, and some moderate.

You now have my full attention and that of a few others.

Roger. I think I've been a relatively productive member so I'll continue to put up things that I think will edify or humor the group. I'll spend extra time working out the 5ws, but living in fear of the Banhammer is no way to live.

We were a well drilled unit, but I'm sure marching around in the afternoons sounding off with "It's Mic-key Moussssse" didn't get me extra dates in HS.

Your intent is not to contribute knowledge and expertise, but to challenge your basic assumptions of the membership, to engage us with your rich sophomoric and clichéd humor; while exhibiting if you will, the psychological character flaw of suicide by cop syndrome, whereby you goad the Mods to place your ruck sack in the hall for your blatant disrespectfulness, thinking incorrectly that by inference, you’ll skate on through with your weak ploy of intellectual ping pong.

Like other’s before you, they also ask for assistance in placing their pseudo ruck in the hall.

The two quotes from your last post in the comedy thread you example the premise of your response and participation here.

Why would I want to get hit by the banhammer if I obviously like the place? My response was in regards to Sigaba's view of the Comedy Zone and the board as a whole. I really didn't think any of this was serious until Team Sergeant's initial response.

As for blatant dis-respectfulness, after apologizing for putting up the thread, I don't see it.

What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it.

I somewhat removed myself from the thread yesterday, it was just too nice outside to be punching keys all afternoon.

I read your intro, back on 3-7-10 - can you tell us more about yourself? Or send a PM if that is more comfortable.

So you didn't have to read "The Moon is Always Female" in Plebe English?
