It is good to be King

Man, this south Asia vacation really wore me out. I might need another vacation before my End of Fall Eat the Turkey vacation.
I don't say Thanksgiving because you owe it to me.

34 warships sent from US for Obama visit

34 ships?
"........He will also be protected by a fleet of 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier, which will patrol the sea lanes off the Mumbai coast during his two-day stay there beginning Saturday. The measure has been taken as Mumbai attack in 2008 took place from the sea.........."
Must be a typo, should have been 3 or 4.

A number quoted by some state level official in India to the Indian media is most likely pure BS.
I wouldn't be surprised if extra security measures were taken, but the $200 million number seems like pure lies. How would a state level official have accounting data on what it's going to cost for the trip of the President of the United States? Why would all the security measures and numbers be displayed in the media for everyone to digest?
How are 34 warships going to do anything to protect the President in one of the largest urban areas in the world? Fight a war at sea or land Marines somehwere, sure, protect the President? I think not.
Bad information seems to keep getting quoted over and over again in the media- it sure must have raised the profile of that politician from the State of Maharashtra. IMHO, would completely ignore this report.
Now, if the President can only use some of his skills to sell 125 fighter jets worth billions of dollars....we're in the running for selling either F-18/F-16s, have already inked deals for C130s, and C17s.

What You Missed: Tuesday Talk on the President’s Trip to Asia
This week we sat down with Jeff Bader, Senior Director for Asian Affairs, and Ben Rhodes, Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications, to talk about the President’s upcoming trip to India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan. On WhiteHouse.gov and Facebook, you asked questions on a range of topics from outsourcing jobs to “hot button” issues surrounding China to the President’s plans for Diwali in India. Watch their responses by using the links below to jump directly to the questions that you're interested in or watch the full video of the chat. Check back for full coverage of the President’s trip on WhiteHouse.gov.

My new avatar? I'm just playing around with a couple of different versions of PhotoShop to see which I prefer before purchasing and this is my first attempt at using it. See what a steady diet of C's, LRRPs, PIRs, and living outdoors will do for you!

But what is "Cost"? How do you add cost? Not saying the following is fact - just using it as a small scale example. If you want to go for a high figure you would include the base pay and TDY costs of the military folks. Middle road you would just use the TDY costs. Low ball you would not include any military related fees - after all they would still be paid if they sat at home. Might as well be working to earn it.
I do know one thing - renting 570 rooms in a top of the line hotel and flying 34 aircraft around the world costs more than a few dollars.

Actually, I believe the point being made is nobody knows the actual costs but they are certain to be high.

Glad they are using the first team and that US security is largely unarmed.
