96,640 ft (estimated) today - not bad at all. Just a warmup for the big one.

Today's the day - maybe.
Weather hold due to high winds - at 700 feet - the top of the balloon.

Abort
Well, they gave the go, slight delay in starting to fill the balloon and now with the wind slamming the balloon around it's aborted for today.

That's pretty impressive. I wonder to what degree people will push the limits. It'd be amazing to see, or even theorize for, a human reentry from the lower limits of the ionosphere, and maybe even some day from LEO.
I'm sure it will happen. Just probably not in my life time, unfortunately

Radio news said Thursday, but the forcast calls for T-storms then and Friday. Saturday is clear, but breezy.

Only one balloon
Reading through the site they stated the balloon is pretty much a one shot deal once it comes out of the box. The way it was banging on the ground today means that one is going in the trash can tonight.
That only gives them one shot with the spare balloon. If that is blown then they have to wait for two more to be made.

Maybe I missed it, but how long does it take a balloon to reach this kind of altitude?

1 minute per 1,000 ft. Up higher may get to 1,400 per minute.
They have it figured pretty close up to the balloon float altitude. Where the balloon reaches maximum size and will go no higher based on the weight of the capsule.
I forget the exact time line but the jumper exits, after a period of time the capsule is cut free and returns to earth under a parachute while the balloon has it's vents opened and returns twisting and turning to earth where it is recovered.
