Im devastated by the lost of Master Sgt. Jared N. Van Aalst. You we're one of the best Warrior Mentors. I hope to be half the Soldier you were and I will carry your words and actions with me the rest of my life. May god bless you and my prayers go out to you're family. I'm going to be the best Soldier possible and will follow you're lead and actions throughout my Army career.
I promise.

i have no closer friend than Jared.
Talk about a fucking super hero.
TOTAL sleeper, but a super hero.
i could write books of funny shit about VA, but mostly he was a total and complete pro.
The absolute personification of Quiet Professional.
i spoke to VA a few hours before he left.
Jared is one of those guys who you NEVER would have thought would go down. He doesn't make many mistakes.
Im one of those shitty friends who only has contact info for the Bro and not his wife, but im getting the info....if anyone needs it.
On a side note.
Jared is GTG.
He's drinking piss out of gallon milk jugs with Bob right now.

Never knew you but your cousin is a very close friend from 10th group days and he called me yesterday to talk. Great to hear from those that knew you how squared away you were - amazing how this special ops stuff stays in families. RIP Warrior.

Jared was a highly intelligent and motivated professional soldier, one of the best of Ranger regiment. I enjoyed my friendship and professional interaction with Van. I will miss you.
My prayers and thoughts for his wife and children as they come to terms with their loss.....May we never fail them!
