R.I.P.

RIP Mr. Kalua. I met Mr. Kalua and his son shortly after graduating the Q course. We share a neighborhood. I came home from work Thursday to see EMTs on scene. His son and Mr. Kalua's grandchildren live 3 houses down. I will be sure to pass on condolences and pay respect to a great man.

I'm gonna miss you brother. You were a great mentor. RIP
I remember that day.....

I will Miss Mikey, we had a great time on the committee and was always a blast to hang around. I always used to razz him about his stories, and he'd tell me to go fuck off.....whoda thunk???

Anyway, I was shocked to get the news and very saddened. His memory will live on, he touched many, and many will remember, I for one will never forget.

As he would always say, if ya ask anyone that knew him, they'd say "that asshole" if they said that, then they were his friend.

Good by Mike, with a heavy heart I say that.

Love ya man....see ya someday....RIP and thank you for being you...

Confirmation on services for Mike

We now have confirmation on services for Mike.

There will be visitation at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home on Friday, July 9th from 700-9:00 pm.

Memorial services will be at JFK Chapel on Fort Bragg at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 10th. This chapel is special to us as we were married there in 1971 and, in later years, our young family attended Sunday services there.

Our Ohana appreciates all the kindnesses that have been received and are overwhelmed by your generosities. We have enjoyed hearing your Mike Kalua stories and would love to hear more. They have been comforting and will be cherished. He always had stories to tell about many of you and your adventures sometimes in the far corners of the world.

If I could turn back time....

Something Mikey passed to me in Jul 08.....I'm keeping it..

"Hey Bobby G,

Can’t really complain so I’m not going to. I’m getting use to retirement, drove me stir crazy at first, somebody told me it would be fun well I will tell you I miss being around the troops and teaching but I have found other distractions to keep me busy. It’s good to hear from you and I know everything is well at DOT at least the 18Echo side of the house. I do keep up with Bob Smith, Cake (he calls me when he is drunk), and Gendro. I miss working with them and just hanging around. I went out to tent city, pitiful to say the least but like good troopers that they are they make it work for the students and themselves. No sense bitching its all good towards retirement. Good to hear from you Bobby, my cell phone number is 910 987-3810, just in case you want to gab, take care and don’t let the bastards get you down. Hey to Jeff,

Mikey K."

RIP Mikey
