The media page is a hoot. I especially enjoyed the "Overnight Expert Syndrome" article, warning against those with limited credentials and training attempting to open their own schools.

The picture of the guys charging down the range to punch the targets in the crotch with their firearms was fun, but the youtube videos were just hilarious.

Maybe I missed something as well in the initial portion. I could be wrong, but isn't Kung Fu a different ranking system that doesn't have anything to do with belts.

A better educated person of Martial Arts please feel free to chime in.

If he's a certified instructor through the NRA, it wouldn't be hard to find out. They take their certifications seriously and will say if he did or did not attain that credential.

What the hell is the Allied Forces Tactical Team? Rainbow Six is right TS.

His credentials are ambiguous enough to fool sheeple, but lacking in detail for those in the know.

If you are really a person with the know how, then you come clean completely and tell people what your detailed credentials are, or you have bona fides that just speak for themselves. A number of local guys here come recommended as trainers that I would never question. Larry Vickers, Kyle Lamb, Brian Searcy to name a few.

I don't see how these guys last this long. 2008 to now and we are just catching this asshat. Sad thing is, people that knew nothing will get trained and then hurt because of unsound training.

This guy probably watched the boys at Key West ditching from a Zodiac, swam in the same general.......ocean, and claims having been trained by you.

He'll be #2 this week that earns my title of "Skycrane".

He also stole that pic from HK and it was subsequently used by the Rainbow Six series (book and games). Wonder if operational copyright infringement avoidance training is something else he's "trained" in. Watching the videos just makes life better.

IIRC it does as well as Aikido, which last I have encountered only had two "belts". (Sorry I'm a bit ignorant on the subject and my info is rusty.) Gary Del Giorno, has Ju Jistsu and Aiki-Jitsu list in his marital arts expertise. Aiki-Jitsu is a form of Ju Jitsu, he could have trained in another style of the gentle art or it could be ignorance.

On the other hand it (the Kung Fu black belt) might be way to relate the ranking to those of us who are used to Japanese and Korean ranking systems. I have encountered that a lot back in the day when Kung Fu guys came to the class to learn another style, mostly Ju Jitsu.

Ummm...KFR?!? Isn't that what Abu Sayaaf Group is notorious for...so that would make...Kokonuts (or whatever the organization is) a "terrorist" organization?

FWIW Jbour13 - US style (e.g. for the masses) martial arts uses the colored belt rankings. Kung (gung) fu uses colored sashes (perhaps he used "belt" to denote sash). I would say maybe he meant silat (vice Siriat) but the "R" is a few keys away from the "L". Silat (or penjak silat) is a Indonesian form of fighting known for their use of bladed weapons - with a lot of Indonesian and Dutch ancestry instructors.

chin na - is a form of Chinese grappling which focuses on takedowns and joint locks (think small circle jiujitsu / dumog / acupressure)
iaido - is the path / way of drawing the sword (usually associated with kendo / aikido)
gung fu / kali / and aikido I think most know - but just to point out ... juDo is a "sport" ... a way of living, a philosophy...juJutsu is not. In the words of the founder of JuDo in the late 19th century (
Quote:
Jigaro Kano, as quoted by Gunji Koizumi in the Budokwai Bulletin (April 1947):
I have been asked by people of various sections as to the wisdom and possibility of Judo being introduced with other games and sports at the Olympic Games. My view on the matter, at present, is rather passive. If it be the desire of other member countries, I have no objection. But I do not feel inclined to take any initiative. For one thing, Judo in reality is not a mere sport or game. I regard it as a principle of life, art and science. In fact, it is a means for personal cultural attainment. Only one of the forms of Judo training, so-called randori or free practice can be classed as a form of sport. Certainly, to some extent, the same may be said of boxing and fencing, but today they are practiced and conducted as sports. Then the Olympic Games are so strongly flavored with nationalism that it is possible to be influenced by it and to develop "Contest Judo", a retrograde form as ju-jitsu was before the Kodokan was founded.
That being said, I think juDo (or any 'martial' art e.g karate, muay thai, boxing, fencing, catch-as-catch can, etc) is good for developing young men and women.

Kokoro = 'heart' in Japanese ... it is also the name of a restaurant in Colorado and a 1914 novel by Soseki Natsume ...

UB,the first group to put it out was a R&B group in the mid 50's called the Oriole's..... They had it stolen by the Beach Boy's like so many other Black groups that originally put out hit songs........ Alas Pat Boone was also one of them...

I caught a show on one of the VH1ish channels about black music that got covered. Some really good music followed by the cover group - including Boone. For the most part the early covers were crap.

Airsoft? Were we talking about Airsoft training? Next thing ya' know they'll claim to be the first group to be fast ropin'.

Throughout the course the only time he mentioned his service was agreeing with a joke about the size of the spiders in Panama. Just compare the websites and it's clear this is a soldier running a business, instead of the opposite.
