Vary how you translate a given word by even a little bit and it canchange the intended meaning.

Remember way back to the 70s when the "Good News for Modern Man" version of the Bible came out?
I believe the proper translation was "Thou shalt not whack (without a sit down)".
I think it was in a Sicilian text I saw.

The Almighty doesn't belong to conservatives.
According to the Scriptures they're re-translating, they belong to Him.

He belongs to anybody who claims him I reckon.
Remember the "Gott Mit Uns" German belt buckles?
Didn't work out too well for them.

Let's see, First Council of Nicaea, the Council of Chalcedon, the Synod of Jerusalem, the Council of Pisa, the Council of Trent, First Council of the Vatican...seems like folks have been redefining their faith to suit their particular wants and desires for quite some time.

My point is that the Bible translations are based on the translators opinions. I personally take the Bible as a reference, and a guide, not as law. If someone wants to take the Bible for law and swear by it, they had better know what it really says, not what someone else says about it. You cannot know what the true meaning of a manuscript is if you do not understand the culture and language that it is written in, and yet many Christians just want it handed to them.
Many take the Bible lightly, and yet they want to argue over which translation is better. Truth is that none of the translations are as accurate as the real thing.
The closest thing you will get to having it handed to you is the Interlinear Bible. I must admit though, im a bit lazy myself; http://www.stars21.com/translator/english_to_greek.html

Umm, really? When are people going to stop trying to put a spin on everything to make it "more modern" or "more with the times"? I am really getting tired of this......

Blame it all on Dante Alighieri.
