23840, I grew up and my parents still live in Murtha's district (PA 12th). They did not vote for him. They made the point that all their friends who voted for Murtha did so because of the jobs and money he brings to the district. I dislike the concept of "pork" as much as the next guy. However, If my job depended on it and the GWOT didn't affect me personally, I might think differently.

Guys - Murtha's a senior member of Congress and if nothing was done to him after his outrageous remarks concerning the USMC in Iraq about 4 years back, ain't much gonna happen now - especially since this is just a political pat on the back from a political appointee to a Polecatus Washingtonium - probably because the USN wants a couple of those multi-billion dollar subs or such over the next term.
MOO - but the SecNav ain't gonna rescind this because of an on-line petition - and this is not gonna be as big a deal with the MSM when they've got MoveOn.Org miscreants doing the work of Barry's Great Community initiative out there picketing AIG exec's personal homes like some sort of American Hitlerjugend Krystal Nacht affair.
