Unfortunately the statistics and I would agree with you Pete, but the silver lining is that he did get some time, not enough for taking life IMHO but he is off the streets for a while, I'm glad to hear that for Eagle, his family and for the rest of society.

Eagle, you have an amazing attitude I hope this brings you and your family as much closure as anything can under these circumstances. My thoughts will be with you and your family. May your brother rest in peace.

Eagle,
Again my condolensces.

The up side to the conviction is he was convicted in Federal court which has a couple of benefits not afforded in a state conviction. There is no good time for a federal sentence. He will spend the entire sentence behind bars. State conviction would have allowed as much as half his sentence reduced due to good time.

Federal probation is actually parole. He will be on this parole for the remainder of his sentence. This creep will be randomly tested for alcohol/drug use while on probation. You can insure strict adherence to the guidelines by staying in touch with his probation officer (once released), demanding accountability.

I believe that SF is a 'calling' - not too different from the calling missionaries I know received. I knew instantly that it was for me, and that I would do all I could to achieve it. Most others I know in SF experienced something similar. If, as you say, you HAVE searched and read, and you do not KNOW if this is the path for you --- it is not....
