That I think is the essence of this. I know his past religious beliefs/teachings has been raised as a issue. Sounds like he is distancing himself from that past or view that he is/was a Muslim. Interesting in that the D's tend to take a secular position.

Being tainted by the "Democratic" label is another concern.

I'm tired of this BS !!

If these people want to see a real minority, then I invite them to take a bus trip to Hazard, Kentucky. There is a real minority with little education, little or no work/employment opportunities yet their church's are filled with members of the community that actually do believe in the Christ. I'm betting you won't find any minister, pastor or preacher with tenants anything close to singling out their devastated social and economical structure and status let alone mentioning themselves as a minority. Their suffering is suffering none the less, just as the percieved suffering that Blacks insist on preaching on Sunday mornings, at least in Reverends Wrights case.

Why is it that suffering alway's seem to take on a more dramatic face when it's a black man preaching about it ?

Obama is clearly distancing himself from what is the percieved self proclaimed suffering of the black man from Mr. Wrights theological and political distorted view point.

It's a bit late, especially when the press follows every move that a candidate makes. There isn't much that can be kept secret when you decided to hold yourself out as the next the next POTUS. It seems the Democrats alway's hit a road block when the issue of religion and Christianity come into play. Does anybody actually believe that Hillary and Bill are Christians when we see them entering a church on the Sunday "Meet The Press" special ?

You make a great point 82nd . Because this glorificaton and revelry in being a 'minority' by people other than whites IS BS. Isnt the whole point of reducing racial tensions to come together as Americans, not constantly be bringing up racial differences and going off with the same group of people all the time! Kinda destroys the possibility of "minorities" truly assimilating into the population.

The 'white society', or whatever facticious society which has no human rights, that the minister prescribes to hate just does not exist.

And like you point out what should be taken into account is the status, or opportunities from whence people come. Whether it be a small town in Kentucky or somewhere else, not race.

HOw the hell can someone running for POTUS even still be a viable candidate after associating himself with such obvious racism. Such crap these days that conservatives and christians and white folks feel pressure to accept everything else while being pressured out of their own traditions by Liberals. And if we try to speak out we are made to look like we are heartless and have no morals.

CAN you imagine the firestorm which would have resulted if this was a conservative going to this pastor. It would be in the MSM for days and would destroy the candidate's viability completely.

I also believe that in today's society one can easily "act" in his/hers' position on various items of controvery and still remain a viable canadate for the POTUS. We can all name a few POTUS that have done that in the past with Bill Clinton being probably the worst. I also know that with Obama, he has the ability to take public "undesirables" such as this pastor and keep him stored away until it's time to turn to him again (ie., When he becomes the POTUS). He would do this by trying hard to make some distance between himself and this pastor. In reality what he is doing is taking this situation and putting it on the back burner for a later time. By doing this it is slick, easily obtainable, and easily hidden away from prying eyes. Obama still loves this guy and is definately a wolf in sheeps clothing. A very dangerous man indeed. IMHO

Regarding Obama, I have heard some people say that if he becomes President, Oprah might have a lot of indirect influence over the United States, since she is such a big financial resource for him, don't know how true that is.
I don't believe a word out of Nancy Pelosi's mouth. She is another liberal democrat from Kalifornia with socalist desires for the United States and she loathes the military just as the Clintons do. If she said she prayed for the troops, then I'm taking it with a grain of salt to wash down the bad taste in my mouth .

I wonder if it would be of use to Mr. Thompson to ever try and make Obama's deception here more of an issue. Throw a few of that pastor's quotes out in a debate... hard to side step what that pastor says in his speeches when directly confronted with it in a debate I would think.

Agreed, I saw this part of the interview about praying for the Troops and the President too...I was appalled...yet not.
