Good evening,

I reserved my 18x contract and plan to sign it after MEPS next week. I have been scouring over the site for a little under a month to soak in as much information as I can. Thank you very much for this resource, it made my decision that much easier as my recruiter was not very knowledgable in regards to the 18x contract, or SF in general.

Will come back with an update after I sign my contract!

Thanks.

Hey!

My name is Tingley. I get jokes on the name all the time haha. I'm in the IL ARNG currently deployed at Camp Wright(Asadabad), Afghanistan. I'm going to go to the next 20th Group tryouts after this deployment is over.

Hello Gentlemen.

My name is Chris and I am very proud to say that I just took my oath this Friday at MEPS in New Orleans. I was able to obtain a 18x contract and I ship March 19th and begin OSUT on the 27th. I am excited and humbled all at the same time because I know I have a long hard road ahead of me.

Chris.

New to the site.

Hi my name is Michael, I am a 25 year old patrol officer in Tennessee. I joined this site in order to find good reliable information about joining the Special Forces. I have been finding lots and lots of useful info on here. Some questions have been answered and some questions have not. It seems that the more I learn the more questions I have and the more time I spend on here each day. I look forward to speaking to each and every one of you. I am greatful and have much respect for the men and women in our armed forces today. I am interested in joining the SF forces even though I have never been in the military mainly because when I do things i want to be the best. In this case that would mean be one of the best. I want to learn as much as I can as quickly as I can. I am wanting to be on my way to basic by spring of 2010. I thank you ahead of time for any information any of you will be giving me.

Thanks Michael

Long ago...

...a young, skinny dude with my nametag spent a few years in SF - formative years, I might add. Learned a lot about the world and myself, and I like to think it made me a better man.

I found this site thru a serendipitous Google search - stopped to read a few threads, and when I saw the Roy Bishop avatar, I knew it was real. Thought I'd join up, perhaps find a few old friends and maybe a few new ones.

I graduated training group in '72 as an 05B and was assigned to the 10th at Ft. Devens, joined 221 there after a couple months of waiting for them to return from Reforger.. Spent most of my time learning, but was also a ski instructor starting in '74. Reported into Toelz New Year's Day '76, was assigned to ODA5 immediately, was doing ski training inside of a week..

I always said I'd still be there if they'd have let me, but multiple events (and the peanut king) had me ETSing in December '78. I've spent the years since in the 2-way radio world, plus raising a family and all the joys that brings.

I can't offer much current knowledge outside of the radio world, but I'm willing to offer what I can. Dumbutt opinions and old memories I have in good supply, of course..

New 18x from Omaha, NE. Very eager to learn and become the best soldier that I can. As soon as I started looking at the Army I wanted to get into special forces and I have been given a great oppertunity with my 18x status. I have a long road ahead of me, but Im going to take it step by step and do my best. I ship 20090218 so I wont be here much but Ive been reading as much as I can and getting in shape for the big day.

Hello all,

I am a former 18D, served all of my team time in 2-10th at Ft Devens from 88-94. After a two year SWCS tour, was accepted into PA school. Since completion have been in the 10th MTN Division, where, after 3 yrs in an Infantry Battalion and 3 years in a Cavalry Squadron, have been the Senior PA of the Division for the past 3.5 years. Am currently enjoying the weather here in Iraq.

18x prospect from New England. Currently awaiting a few med docs and a waiver to allow me to sign before my 20th birthday. Unfortunitally appears that I cannot enter OSUT until I am 20 on 03/26.

I was a AA runner in HS so I am on the slimmer side at 5'11 ~155lb but luckily the running isnt a challenge.

Been working hard and had a prelliminary APFT and maxed the run and situps but only managed 60 pushups so I was pretty dispointed. I believe I was just a bit tired from a workout in the morning but I know I am very close to 80 now. (Yes they were proper military pushups AND situps.)

My goal is to be able to score 300 on the APFT before entering Basic. I know it doesnt really mean anything but it cant hurt and the success percentage appears to be far greater at a higher entrance PT level.

I appreciate everything that is achieved on here and hope to become part of your community in the near future

Search, read and search more and post less is your second recommendation. Like Dozer said 1st impressions go a long way. This is not High school.......
