I really got into "Enemy at the Gates" until the scene where the Russian guy exterminates a candle with a fart.

Classics
Burt Lancaster had some classic lines in "Go Tell the Spartans". "The slaute" was certainly one of them.

Harry Potter 7 opened last night at midnight. A school night. BCMU has not been coherent long enough today to share her impressions. There was a time when I was the escort of choice.
Alas . . . I feel I have gone from Dumpledore to Dobbie in her eyes. (I'm still wicked powerful; just no longer smart or benevolent)

I had alla RT Claifornia yards with me that night. Joe was standing down in Saigon. The yard were gatehred around me, and as the zombies started munching, they crowded closer and closer. They had nightmares for 3 nights.
When Joe came back, he called me a dumb Mo-Fo for letting them see that movie!!

We watched Return of the Living Dead in the barracks one night ('87) and even though it was just a comedy spoof on Night of_ & Dawn of_, ("send more cops...") it got to our unit PAC clerk pretty good.
Flash forward to the next week at work, myself and another scout buddy clued in the First Sergeant and he helped set up poor SGT P. While Top was lending some helpful distraction, we put the stalk on & got into position behind & beside. At the same moment Mac whispered Brains into P's ear, I bit him on the top of his head!
I would have gave a weeks pay to see the look on his face. Zero to Hostile in 4 vertical feet. It took awhile before he'd even talk to us, and we kept waiting on the payback. SGT P probably still has a 360° head & eyes like an owl. Telling his grandkids: "Those crazy white zombie MFers got me once...sitting at my desk. No telling when I'm gonna change over..."
I don't really dig the whole horror/gore thing anymore, unless it's like Maximum Overdrive or Return of_ & part of the gag.
Dad took me to see Animal House at the movies, 1st run, I was in 7th grade, he was about 54. Classic! I still say "Thank you Sir, May I have another!" too often.
Raising Arizona we were just laughing about today at work.

In '72, the 3/5 Infantry at Ft Kobbe, CZ had a 'rathskellar' in the HHC mess hall on Sat. nights. For over 6 weeks, the ONLY movie we had was 'Kelly's Heroes'- with Clint, Telly, Don Rickles, et al. I know it by heart.
I use it in my Econ classes! They watch 'film clips' from it, and then write an essay about how it embodies the 'free enterprise' vs 'public goods' argument!
Besides, it cuts down on the negative waves!

I tought that particular scene was funny, but then again I'm probably a little warped.
Just drink a few shots of Vodka the next time you watch it.

Dozer,
With love in my heart, get used to that feeling! It will grow, at least until they marry an SF guy!

Just watched "Bravo Two Zero" and the REAL "Taken" (not Hillar's delusional version). Looking to get my hands on the book for the former.

How can I pass that up?
I like to compare the big screen to the novel on films (usually military) that I enjoy.
