6.5 and 6.8 are a step in the right direction for the pro,
but i'm still scracthing the o'le scalp as to why they didn't jump back to 7.62
seen a lot of good result's with 6.8
blitzzz, now that is a real wild cat, WILD CAT! you could do it, hummmm.
just for SAG i'm going to look that combo up,
with new powder's these days you can do just about anything with any combo
7mm like them for ONOK (one shot one kill) but they tear hell out of small game, check into 300 weatherby mag, and 7.62,,,,,both can be real fun,do anything rounds, from squirting till the jacket shear's ,clear down to sling shot speed.
like where your heads at though
Ackley, wild cat ed, some thing like it back in early 70's
a 300 Win Mag necked down to ...........17 it was a test set up for some magizine project (think it was gun's and ammo) he ended up only firing a few rounds, he called it "alouden earsplitzen" (it was a joke name, but in his own word's "I'm not man enough to shoot more than a couple a day")

Intro
Hello All,
My name is Thomas. I am a senior at the George Washington University in Washington DC. I will graduate in the fall of 2009. Right now I plan to go abroad for 6 months or so to work and/or study (moat likely Jordan or Georgia among others), and after that I am considering enlisting in the 18x program.
I used to be in NROTC and after my first summer cruise I realized that I didn't want to spend my military life on a boat. I got out to explore better options and all roads have lead me to SF.
I have some SEAL friends who are trying to convince me to go to BUD/s instead. My attraction to SF over SEAL is that you guys seem to focus more on FID and working with the locals rather than just door kicking (not that door kicking isn't fun). I am also really interested in the cultural and language learning opportunities of being in SF.
I am hear to mostly read and gather information. I doubt I will post too often; although, that may change once I get closer to (a) making a more concrete decision and (b) shipping out.
Thank you for letting me be a part of this forum. Forgive the length...
Respectfully,
Thomas

Welcome Gent's.
mountainman,
Either would be a good choice and either way you'll have to prove that you want to be there.

I am a civilian w/ no military background. I’ve worked in a maximum security correctional facility, again as a civilian, for the last 18 years, which is simply a way of saying that I don’t get out much. I’ve had some involvement with youth sports, the Boy Scouts, and I do a little shooting. I acquired an interest in military history relatively late in life, and have a son in 3ID. He keeps me apprised of my shortcomings regarding all things military, and I expect more of the same from this forum.

Based on your Screen-Name, plus the ambiguity of the above statement, coupled with the statement in your profile: "Civil servant. Work as a civillian in jail. " (not in A jail, after all most inmates ARE civillians), you could either be spending ALL of your time in JAIL, as in incarcerated, or you may go outside the perimeter to return home during your off-duty hours!!! So, which is it?!?!?!
Later

AM,
No, I’m not an inmate. Yet. For some of us who have been there since the bulk of our customers were five or ten years old, and for those on the staff who put in 60+ hour weeks on OT, seems like we spend more time inside than our clientele. We tend to have Seasonal Affective Disorder the year ‘round.
I have known of one or two minimum security inmates that were allowed by the court to leave for work every day, returning every evening. Not so different from many a marriage…
