For CPT and G_D:

While practicing autorotations during a military night training exercise a Cobra screwed up the landing and landed on the tail rotor. The landing was so hard that it broke off the tail boom. However, the chopper fortunately remained upright on its skids, sliding down the runway doing 360s. As the Cobra slid past the tower, trailing a brilliant shower of sparks, this was the radio exchange that took place...

Tower: "Sir, do you need any assistance?"

Cobra: "I don't know Tower, we ain't done crashin' yet."

Enjoy..

CUTE!

But you guys are going to get me in trouble with TS, he may take away my Mod status! We should take this stuff to PM's, and keep the intro forum clear of chatter!

And this site helps me keep my sanity...

Australian Rappeling

In answer to the question before, an Ex-SASR member was supposed to have 'commercialised' the name in 1989 when he demonstrated it in Cairns. It is actually quite fun, because you can run down a cliff face as opposed to bounding down.

I have heard of its use during helicopter insertions (but I have no evidence to back it up), which some members prefer as you can hit the ground running. I have also heard that SASR members exfil the aircraft, when fast roping, before the rope has hit the ground, so as to save time.

If anyone has any evidence to suggest otherwise though, I will stand corrected.

My Introduction

To All,

Hello, and thank you for creating this site and allowing civilians like myself to learn about quiet professionals, and the difference they make. I look forward to reading a lot and contributing very little.

My Introduction

Hello All, I'm Ian Holtzman. I'm a Reserve with 17th Psycholocical Operations Battalion and attempting to get into A/2/20th SFG. I go to Selection next week with the rest of my training team.
I have been deployed twice with ASOC which is were I was introduced to the SF world.
This is a great website, thanks for the advice.

Long time lurker here under another userid. SOCNET member since 2002. Jimbo and RIT_MEDIC suggested I lurk here. I can outrun Jimbo, but I can't outswim him. I have interviewed with 19th in WV.

An Introduction

Greetings to All,

I have been lurking for several weeks and planned to do so for several more, just trying to develop SA and prevent a FTFSI tag. However, I received a package in the mail yesterday and I would like to say “Thank You” to Team Sergeant!

I have never served in the Armed Forces. I am an engineer and I have spent my entire professional life designing communication equipment, specifically, SATCOM radios. During this time, I have had the opportunity to travel to several “exotic” locals and have, at times, been escorted by certain men. To these gentlemen, I say “Thank You, the pleasure was all mine” and to all who serve, have served, and will serve, you have my gratitude.

I now will return to lurking; reading and learning.

Regards,
Hank
