Southern, Pray you won't ever get "used to" civilian life. To borrow a quote: Wolves, Sheep and Sheepdogs...We are sheepdogs. We drove off the wolf and the sheep never noticed and that was our job. Keep that attitude in every endeavor.

Hey all, I was sure that I had already done this but aparently not. Well I'm an 18E (former 18X) who graduated in Apr of 06 before joining 3rd group. I've went streight to a team with no other specialty than being good at what we do. I'm here to learn mostly and bounce ideas off people.

Hello!
I recently swore in to the US Army. I currently work as a therapist for troubled teenage boys. My goal in life is to serve people to the best of my abilities. I signed an 18x contract with the desire to further those abilities and gain new ones. I report March 8, 2007. I will one day have the title "Quiet Professional" beneath my screen name!
Thank you for the vast amounts of knowledge on this website! I am confident and excited to continue my training!

Brett:
Sounds like you have your life all planned out already.
Don't get too far ahead of yourself.
Life has a way of not turning out like we planned.

Greetings,
I’d like to Thank Team Sergeant again for inviting me into your domain. I’ve skimmed through a couple threads, and I’m anxious to get back to reading as much as possible.
I’m from a Military and Emergency Services family, did a very short stint in the CF, and will be enlisting in the US Army next fall/winter. I’ve got a Bach degree in Psych, and plan to start my Masters in Strategic Intel in the next couple months.
I’m currently working as a personal trainer (NASM-CPT) while I get back in shape and pay for my educational endeavors . I look forward to soaking up the experiences posted on this site and hopefully meeting more of you.

G'Day
I am an Aussie who is absolutely infatuated with the Green Berets. Ever since I heard about what you guys do I have wanted to be there. I was previously on the Australian version of the 18X-ray program you have for SF, the SFDRS that enables you to get into 4RAR commando, however I left due to what was thought to be compartment syndrome in my shins. As it turns out I didn't have it, and am fine now, I just had really bad shin splints. I know what you thinking, why didn't you stay? They gave me that option, but it would have taken 6 months or more for my shins to be ready for a beating again, and sitting around for 6 months on trainnee pay is not really that appealing.
It was after I left that my interest in the SF world grew 10 fold. I already had an avid interest in the SF world, but now I had an insiders view and I suddenly understood a lot more about what I was reading than I did before (plus I have 15 or so mates who can fill me in on things I don't know about). So when I read about the Green Berets, it was like love at first site. Everything you do represents everything I have ever wanted to do in the military. This is where the story gets interesting. I desperately want to get back into the military again, civilian life is just not for me anymore, and as a lucky twist of fate I am also an American citizen. Thus I would really like to find out how easy (or hard) it would be for me to get onto the 18X-ray program. If there is a chance I can do it, then I will be there with bells on.

Welcome CeDo and AusDigger.
"I am an Aussie who is absolutely infatuated with the Green Berets." AusDigger, you're scaring me
There's a few threads dealing with non-Americans going to SF training. (I know we've usually got an SF'er embedded with the Aussie SF and vice versa.)

Maybe infatuated was the wrong word, but you have to love it to want to live it.

Greetings from Salt Lake City
Hello Professional Soldiers...
A little about myself off the bat:
My name is Brandon but I go by DJ (retired club Dj) or Hawk. (Call Sign given to me at OPSGEAR) I live in Salt Lake City, Ut. and I am 29 almost 30. I have a girlfriend of almost 5 years now and a daughter who will turn 7 in June.
I have no previous Military Experience however I am very fascinated by everything Military. I’m an avid reader (just started) of Military books; in fact I just finished Roughneck Nine-One. Along with SOG (got an Autograph from Sergeant Mark Kinsler) and a few other Special Forces books. I am currently reading Hunting Down Saddam by Robin Moore along with Special Forces A Guided Tour of U.S. Army Special Forces by Tom Clancy and John Gresham.
I have worked with a few prior Military personal at OPSGEAR where I was part of the Force-on-force OPFOR Team. There I worked with prior AF SpecOps, 19SFG, and 82nd Airborne. Along with a LAPD Veteran.
I have a vast amount of respect and awe for all of you who serve this country and I truly am thankful for each and every one of you. And I must say that my time spent at OPSGEAR allowed me to see part of the Warrior Culture first hand.
I came across this site after a friend of mine posted the "Somewhere a True Believer is training to kill you." quote on another forum we both belong to. And he posted to site from which he got this powerful and motivational quote. I spent a few days as a guest looking around and not being able to get very far thus I was compelled to join the boards about 5 days ago and have just now gained the courage to post my intro.
Thank you Quiet Professionals for having me, Thank you for fighting for me, Thank you!

Welcome
Welcome aboard Gents, appreciate your interest.
Aus Digger, do Austrailian's really rappel face down towards the the ground?
I always wondered if the term "Austrailian Rappel" was accurately attributed to those down under.

Howdy
Hi all,
Pleasure to be here. CW3 Kiowa Warrior Instructor Pilot here, currently freezing the jewels off in Sunny Fairbanks, AK.
Long time Cav guy here, and in ancient times spent 4 years on fast attack subs in the navy. E-6 then, followed by a stint swinging hammers as a civilian, followed by a drop to E-4 coming in the Army, back up to E-6 as a 13B (hey no choice, was prior service, and it taught me to play dominoes), followed by flight school.
16th Cav, 2nd Cav, 7th Cav, 17th Cav. Yeah I'm one of those guys, hehe.
Here to share TTP's, fish stories, lies, and favorite brown liquors and cigars.
The more that Army aviation shrinks, the more that big Army supports SOCOM, or JSOC, or whatever we call it this week. That's a good thing. I am currently training a lot of new guys in my unit. They're smart, motivated, and are here to make the mission happen. My job is to get em up to speed so that they don't get me killed or anyone on the ground killed.
Hopefully I'll be able to glean from you guys recommendations on what we can do to support you. We have some pretty damn good shooters. Plus there are a few other things we're training that may cross over well.
Oh, and like I told Team Sergeant, the motto of the Warrant Officer Corps is also "Quiet Professional"
That's me in a nutshell, no need for the dirty little secrets just yet.
