My apologies to everyone for the lack of information I provided in my first introduction. I am non prior service looking to join the National Guard as a 68W with the hopes of one day pursuing an 18D position. I understand the 19th offers a "tryout" or a selection day to see if an individual possibly has what it takes to become a special forces candidate. Can anyone give me any specifics on the N. California tryout?

Ah...one of those! (See below posted pic.) We used to refer to them as Armored Carnival Regiments because of the circus they created whenever they rolled out of the motor pool.

Have you tried calling the POC number listed or using the search button to look for the info yourself. I know its here.

Also, this is the 'Intro' thread; not is not the 'ask for help' thread after posting an intro.

I think the QPs will be all over you in a second, but hopefully I can save you some grief. Look in the section of the forum: SFAS(Special Forces Assessment & Selection) and it will tell you everything you need to know. I would hardly call it a 1 day tryout though. Also, you can check out the Special Forces Website and it will detail the training and everything you need to know. Here is the link:
http://www.bragg.army.mil/specialforces/default.htm
Click on "SF Training Overview"....Now to get "Back In My Lane"...Hope that helped though.

This was already addresed; look 1 post above yours...

He wasnt asking about SFAS; his question was in relation to the selection process by which some NGSF companies use to select candidates for their NQP (Non-Qualified Personnel) program.

I made a post and got chastised for not reading the rules and introducing myself so I can be verified.
I'm not putting my last name and anyone that was in A/2/7 in the 90's to 2001 should know me. I'm Dan M. and was the medic on 744. Team SGT's Roy S. Izzy A. Glenn F...I was sent to SWCS and taught at the NCOA. I was the last to teach Black and white photography, then IPB, then the medic course when they had it. I'm back in group now at Group Med with Brendan O. I've been around for a couple years so I guess that's it.

My name is Andrew S. I recently graduated college. I'm currently applying/interviewing with different law enforcement agencies in NC. I'm not too far from Roanoke Rapids and the 20th and have been giving a lot of thoughts to going Guard and pushing for Selection. With that said at this point in time I'm not ready to make all the necessary sacrifices and until that point comes, I'm here to learn as much as possible. I doubt you'll see very much of my name on the forums as I'm content to lurk and read. If this introduction isn't sufficient, let me know what needs to be added.

Introduction

Served 6-years in the USAF as EOD. Single tour to Iraq in 2005 and served at Kirkuk AB, FOB McHenry, FOB Speicher, FOB Bernstein, and FOB Wilson. Currently a civilian and looking into Special Forces with A Co, 2nd Bn 20SFG(A). I learned a lot in my enlistment but found myself sitting at my desk and wanting more out of military service. My research and experience lead me to believe that the SF way of life is one I should be pursuing. I would also like to choose where I will be stationed and since I live in Chicago, the unit here from 20th Group appears to be my best option at the moment. Thanks for putting this website together and letting Noob's like myself come to share in the wealth of actual operator's and their personal experiences.

My name is William. I'm 23, from Texas, and have an interest in joining the Army/SF through the 18x pipeline.

I will sign up in the summer of 2009, after my obligations to family business this year, and then an extended stay with my fiance' in Germany and Italy early next year.

I've been cruising this forum for quite some time; reading, reading, and then reading some more. I am grateful for this site, the professionals running it, and all of those who provide input. Thank you.

My plan is---I will continue to read and train. I'm physically fit and promptly attained a college degree after highschool.

College did not challenge me. Working in the constuction/materials business is not challenging me today. I suppose they don't mean enough on a larger scale.

I've had an interest in the military my entire life. I'm an avid hunter and outdoorsman. I am passionate about life and noticing right and wrong. I wake up and would rather shoot silhouette targets from a hill than sit at a desk or run equipment(I've called in sick to do so). I study languages, cultures, history and weapons as a hobby. I woke up. I realized what I should be doing.

I have a need to be around people who value wisdom/knowledge, shun ignorance/stupidity, and of course, love weapons.

This post establishes who I am and what I'm about. A real pleasure to be in your company on this forum.
