Obligatory 1st Post

ProfessionalSoldiers.com staff,
I've been lurking for a long time, and would like to post to introduce myself as per the rules.
My name is A1C A. Moyer, and I'm currently serving with the 111th ASOS (Recently changed from ASOC) as a apprentice 1-Charlie-4.
I found this sight looking for resources on building my constitution, and sharpening myself for the schoolhouse.
I joined the ANG because they could contract my position as a 1-Chuck, and because I could continue to pursue my Electrical Engineering degree.

Yeah, I know you're probably all down and out that I'm not studying law.
In addition, I've taken about a year of Russian language, and continue to study in my free time.

I'm a long time shooter and spent a significant amount of my youth running around in the woods, so the nautral progression was to run around the woods - with a rifle.

I appreciate the first rate information based on experience rather than conjecture, and opinion from those who've diligently earned their "Chairborne Ranger" tab.

I'll probably keep very quiet, as most of my questions have less to do with SF selection and life than they do with what makes a good Terminal Air Controller by your standards. If any of you felt like dropping me a PM on the subject, I'd appreciate it, but I won't post anything on the topic.

In the meantime, I will be preparing for TACC school, as I ship to BMT for pipeline in about 3 weeks.

Until then, I'll be lurking, and trying to pick up as much wisdom as possible.

Thanks again for the excellent resource for all of us "up and comming" warriors.

Gentlemen,

I made the mistake of posting elsewhere first, was advised of my error, and am correcting it. My mistake.

I was on active duty from 1994-2004, 10th MTN and 3d SFG.

Thank you for providing this forum for the exchange of professional information. Also, thank you for not allowing this board to degenerate like so much of the electronic media.

Hello All,

Was refferred to this site from an individual on the Platoonleader site. I must say, this site is truly invaluable for prospective 18 series persons I'm currently an AROTC Cadet majoring in Information Technology and will commision this summer. Perhaps in a couple years I can put in a packet for SFAS.

I do speak Chinese(Manderin) fluently, but can't read/write it to save my life(Came to the U.S. when I was 2 1/2 and spoke with the rents at home). That being said, perhaps the 1st Group would be most fitting

Hello, I'm from Bakersfield, CA. I am 19 years old, civilian, hoping to join 5/19th SFG out of Los Alamitos in southern California. I am currently trying to earn my private pilots license, and am conditioning for SF. I'm more of a reader than a poster on the forums. I'm PT'ing on my own, but having a mentor would be great.

Hello all,

Thanks for allowing all of us uninitiated to take part in the forums here. I am a Cadet, and SCARNG member. I look forward to learning as much as I can here at Professional Soldiers as I work towards a commission.

Spent time at Robin Sage this summer, and loved every minute of it. Maybe one day I'll be on the other side as a student instead of a guerilla.

NDD Admin edit - Try again stud. Neither this introduction nor the profile meet the standard. Act like somebody trained you.

Team Sergeant: Admin Edit, sorry kid, this is not an airsoft website or a site for children. Move out.

Hey there,

I'm an 18 year old German civilian who's tryin' to learn as much as possible before he joins the service. I spent a year in Salem, OR as an exchange student and lived together with an ex-marine and hung out with a lot more of 'em. Since then I got way interested in a military career.

This far, I think this forum does a big deal on teaching me some stuff from guys who have the experience and share.

So what I'm mostly gonna do is reading

Glück ab,

Greetings
First off let me say thank you for a job well done so far in the GWOT.
I am new to this forum but I looked it over a bit before I joined.
I am a member of the National Guard and am an Ordnace Officer. I have had two call ups for homeland security missions and am slated to head to Afganistan in the near future.

I worked with the US Forest Service for several years in the fire world and jumped as a smokejumper for a couple of seasons....we had some good times doing training with some SF units for rough terrain jumping!

Again thank you for your service.

And everyone thinks we're nuts for jumping behind enemy lines......

Welcome Aboard!

Hello,

This is a nice forum you all have here! Glad I found it.

A little history and info about myself. After high school I looked at joining the military. My parents told me to go to college so I did. Got to respect the rents. At PSU I studied Mechanical Engineering and did some ROTC. It was just starting there at the time so it was very informal but I like doing the PT. When I graduated the guy running the show wasn't of much use in showing me what the Army had to offer so I took a job in weapons design. As part of the job they sent me to get my Masters in Energetic Materials i.e. explosives. Well, I have about 20 more pages left to write on my paper but it's as good as done. In my classes I had a few former SF guys who I studied with. That’s when I realized that there are some cool jobs and very motivated individuals like myself in the Army. So now I'm in the process of "making the dumbest decision of my life,” so says the entire family , and going 18x. I refuse to be one of those guys that when they turn 60 wishes he had tried. Anyway, I've researched the topic a long time now but still have stuff to learn before going and hope this forum will provide the answers.

Well, I think you’re all up to speed on me now.

guest - introduction

My son referred me to this site. He is in SF training at Bragg and has just completed his Combat Engineer MOS and begins Robin Sage next week. We are proud and honored that he has chosen to serve, and may God's speed protect and return him safe from his mission.

He grew up shooting and hunting in the coastal mountains of California, where he learned a lot about (hunting) tactics and strategy. He is a very capable rifle and pistol shot, and an excellent bowhunter. All should serve him well in SF.

Thanks for this site.

First post as directed

My name is gunnerjohn.

Bill Harsey is standing over my shoulder directing me to post here first.

I will tell you up front that I am not prior military.

My former life was in law enforcement out in Oregon but now I work as a high precision machinist and avid gunsmith. I have had great dealings with military personnel in my life and support every action that they are involved with. My background in law enforcement has served me well, but the politics within made me decide that I wanted a change. I have found a calling.

Currently I am working with Bill Harsey on some projects that will be made evident in the near future.

I am a factory trained beretta, colt, remington and glock armorer and welcome any questions fielded my way.

I appreciate the chance to spend time here and learn of a life that I could only dream of.

I look forward to meeting some of you at Shot Show where I will be with Bill introducing some of these "projects".

Thank You

gunnerjohn

You must be the machinist Harsey has been spending all of this time with.

Welcome aboard!
