Hi all. I'm Kevin, recently at a job fair at my local community college I was approached by a recruiter and was told about the 18x contract. I started looking around for more answers, I was originally skeptical about such a contract and thought of it as a ploy, but the more I read about it the more I became interested. I know there's a lot more than having a contract, one has to perform to the levels expected and I want to find out how I can get to such a level, both physically and mentally. Thanks for this site, it really is helpful and very insightful.

I don't like these, so I'll be brief.
Pulled a turn as a 19D in the Army, but never got shipped down-range.
Now, when I'm not working, I volunteer my time and knowledge in a BLS capacity at a number of public events. The wealth of information available here is amazing, and I'd like to take advantage of what you guys have archived.

Hello, my name is Travis. I served in the Navy from '94-'98. Nothing high speed, just a wrench turner in an aviation squadron. I will be a lurker on the boards, just soaking up the information and making sure that I stay in my lane should I decide to ever post.

11B, just graduated from OSUT about a week ago and had a blast. I graduated from Ohio State with a BA in Journalism so I went through as an E-4. The amount of training I got was so much more than anything I could have imagined. It's definitely far from "basic."
I joined the NG to go to Iraq with my brother but got stuck in the DEP so I missed deploying with him. Now I'm seriously considering active duty. I went up to my recruiters office a couple days after I got home to say thanks and just to say hey and he told me 19th Group had a company in Columbus, OH and then called a guy he knows on one of the teams. We talked and he made it sound like my sort of thing I'm interested in.
I learned a lot in Benning, but I feel like there is so much more to learn and I don't want to waste anymore time. Not doing it everyday makes me feel like I'm missing out. And I miss the PT every morning. I enlisted at about 245 lbs, shipped out at 221 and got home weighing about 185. Suffice to say I love what the Army's done for me.
I found this site about 4 months ago as I was researching what to expect at OSUT. Some outstanding information here that I'm sure I'll continue to learn from.

Hello,
I'm Ed. Retired after over 33 years service. Joined the army in '69 to be in SF. (Influenced by the book, the song, and the movie ) Became a SF medic (91B4S) early in '70 and was assigned to the 6th SFGA at Bragg. Became a member of the 5th SFGA, again at Bragg. ETSed and joined the 5/19th SFGA in Colorado. Went to the Benning School for Boys (OCS) followed by SF Officer's Course. (Good story here for later as deemed appropriate.) Spent 11 years in CO Guard as "M" day soldier then went AGR. Last two assignments were at USASOC before retiring in 2002. Been working at USASOC since then. I'll keep looking around and see what I can contribute for the greater good.

Hello,
I've been reading the forums for quite some time but just now finally decided to post. I am currently an 11A, (although unfortunately stuck as a BMO), in Grafenwoehr, Germany.
