Well stated, rest assured you won't see this on the national news.

Message from a non-oppressed black man to Colin Kaepernick… by Allen B. West.
OH, and then there is this: Hey Kaepernick, THIS is what a REAL champion does…

What an @sshat!
His first amendment rights afford him the freedom to be a loser. He should worry more about being able to read coverage and handle the blitz or he will be flipping burgers soon...

To Mr Kaepernick,
I'm in a position to offer you an opportunity to observe the day to day oppression visited upon the masses you say you empathize with.
Beware, In this particular location bring body amor, as they tend to shoot each other with frequent regularity and typically not very sympathetic to visitors to their cultural/jungle.
Bring your own lawn chair and have a seat at Long Ave and West End Ave in Chicago.
Good luck and let me know if you seek directions?
Enjoy.

Colin Kaepernick has made headlines in recent days for his decision to sit during the National Anthem. According to the mainstream media, his reasoning is simple (because the only thing that is comprehendible to the majority of Americans is a soundbite) - police brutality and the oppression of people of color.
Implicit in that simple narrative is one thing unsaid - it's Trump's fault... and Hillary will fight the good fight to support black people.
However, if one took the time to actually read Kaepernick's full interview transcript, the narrative is very different, and not at all what the mainstream would like you to hear...
Colin Kaepernick (CK): People don’t realize what’s really going on in this country. There are a lot things that are going on that are unjust. People aren’t being held accountable for. And that’s something that needs to change. That’s something that this country stands for freedom, liberty and justice for all. And it’s not happening for all right now.
Media: Does the election year have anything to do with timing?
CK: It wasn’t a timing thing, it wasn’t something that was planned. But I think the two presidential candidates that we currently have also represent the issues that we have in this country right now.
Media: Do you want to expand on that?
CK: You have Hillary who has called black teens or black kids super predators, you have Donald Trump who’s openly racist. We have a presidential candidate who has deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesn’t make sense to me because if that was any other person you’d be in prison. So, what is this country really standing for?
Media: It is a country that has elected a black president twice…
CK: It has elected a black president but there are also a lot of things that haven’t changed.

I've taken a step back and reanalyzed the whole Kaepernick sitting through the anthem thing.
1. This was preseason NFL football.
2. Preseason NFL football is a dress rehearsal for regular season NFL football.
3. In a dress rehearsal (think mission rehearsal) everyone practices the part they will play during the NFL season.
4. Colin Kaepernick was sitting on the bench.
5. Colin Kaepernick successfully completed his dress rehearsal for the regular season of NFL football.

CK is merely repeating words he has heard other people say without benefit of independent thought or research of his own.
Donald Trump probably has put more black people to work than either Bill or Hillary Clinton.

...the guy is just more proof that you don't have to be wise to be an athlete, and that no matter how much money you have, you cannot buy self respect or class.
I also think his step parents wasted a lot of effort on his up-bringing.

Radio station this morning defended him - saying that the National Anthem is racist. Something about the third verse celebrating the killing of slaves. I read it and didn't see it explicitly condoning the killing of slaves, but I guess you read into it what you want:
Quote:
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
|
Does it mean those pressed into service by the British against their will? Does it mean American ex-slaves who fought against the U.S.? Or was it just a convenient word that rhymed with "brave" and "grave" and "wave"....?

It's a free country (more or less). He can say what he wants. The Free Market will respond accordingly.
