NEW YORK STATE PROPOSES ANTI-ENCRYPTION BILL TO CREATE A BACKDOOR FOR AUTHORITIES

Smartphones sold inside New York might be less safe than the rest of the country, if a new encryption bill is passed in the state. The bill would force manufacturers or operating system providers to decrypt and unlock smartphones for law enforcement and other authorities, creating a backdoor to surpass the encryption.

The feel good intent of less privacy equals more safety strikes again. This "back door" phrase should be changed to "open door". If there is a way to exploit a "door", then not only will the "good guys" be able to use it, but bad guys as well.

I'm surprised people still live in New York.
