........Combat Volleyball........

Anyone remember the combat volleyball games that we used to play? The dislocated fingers, scratches, bruises, black eyes, broken fingers and arms? Hell, I even remember one guy completely blowing a knee during a game and then having the misfortune of the Army doctor doing a total knee reconstruction on the wrong knee.

But this game looks even more dangerous. You don't have to bang bodies with the opposition to get hurt. You could break your neck all by yourself.

Just happy that we didn't play this back in the day.

Someone refresh my memory. In 5th GP back in the early 80's one of the companies would play a game with a HUGE beach ball (much heavier duty though). What was it called? There were more injures from that game than everything else combined. One team would be pushing the ball towards the other end of the field and some guy from the other team would run full blast into the ball and get launched backwards through the air do to the force/momentum of the ball and the other team pushing it.

I could be wrong but I remember that being called "push ball." I forgot all about that game until you mentioned it. That was a rough one also.

Wink Marsh Ball

Named after John O. Marsh.

Seesm like we played that one time at Toelz. Luckily someone in the game had a pocket knife...

Fondest recollection was at Harmony Church 4th of July festivities... Two medevac choppers and multiple surface medevacs through the event....I recall the sneaker print stomped into my skin took about 3 days to fade away.

Another favorite was referred to as "Whatever" and required a muddy basketball court and a tennis ball....

THAT was fun...

We called the big canvas ball a cage ball, no idea why. In the 82nd we played combat football, something "Gunfighter" brought back from Korea, with five soccer balls and forty five man teams. Great fun.

Was a long time ago, but I will never forget volleyball. It was in November, very cold, near the end of 72 hrs of fun. Played the game in full Chem. gear, with the old mask, in ankle deep mud. I also recall having a pretty heavy rucksack too. It was a full contact sport. Our side won and got a little rest, damned if I can recall what the losing side had to do.
