Air Force Diverts GWOT Funds to Develop "Comfort Capsules"

Wow.

Article link.

"The Air Force's top leadership sought for three years to spend counterterrorism funds on "comfort capsules" to be installed on military planes that ferry senior officers and civilian leaders around the world."

"In all, for the past three years the service has asked to divert $16.2 million to the effort from what the military calls the GWOT, or global war on terrorism"

I have always been of the opinion that you don't ask others to do what you won't do yourself and you lead by example.....just my civilian .02 cents, I think it is a bad idea and sends a bad message to those that do all the hard work.

I think I may have seen one of these "CC" over in the daily files at Militaryphotos.net. There was a couple of pic's of Obama's entourage..

It looked like a 40 steel storage container secured inside a C-5, all insulated and powered like the modules they use for astronaut recovery..

Air Force Diverts GWOT Funds to Develop "Comfort Capsules"

Yesterday there were over 75 VIP type aircraft into and out of Andrews AFB!

A buddy call's these the LARD ASS EXPRESS.

Well, you don't expect Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and their entourages to sit on the same seats the dirty soldiers ride in, do you?

IIRC, Nancy has a standing shuttle every weekend to fly her and her guests back to Kali. Wonder what her carbon footprint is?

If I was king, she would get the worst, most broken down C-130 I could find, with no heat or air, or comfort pallet.

If you need to use the pisser, here are the instructions for assembling the privacy screen. Good luck and thanks for flying Con Air, err... I mean AMC."

Please, for everyone's benefit, put the privacy screen up ahead of time!

You folks are looking at this from the wrong perspective. I have had a hard enough time dealing with GOs of the ilk that don't like to associate with the unwashed lower ranks and if a fancy fly box can keep him from having the ass before he has to deal with my troops then I stand a better chance of selling him on what I need if he comes off the ramp a happy camper.

True story. I was flying PanAm back to the states for a meeting and was sitting with my headphones on fully absorbed in copying some code tapes. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and I looked up to see a two star that was flying back to the states for a different, but related, meeting. He had his little comfy slippers on, was decked out in very casual clothing, and asked me to come up to the upper deck of the 747 so we could talk. We had an engaging conversation concerning some requirements upcoming and it set the tone for a successful follow on mtg in DC. I mean the lad was laid back, not the same demeanor that I had to address when I was in his HQ, and was a truly happy camper. Now if these little comfy fly boxes can acccomplish the same thing for the poor slob that is on the ground waiting for some trussed up turkey then hell it doesn't bother me a bit. Folks, you have to understand the target audience. You are not going to change the Weasley Clarks and Nancy Pelosies of the world but you do have to understand the target audience and play your strenghts against their vanities. Treat a prima donna like a real person and rather than having to eat a little crow once in a while you will wind up eating a whole flock of crows and your troops will suffer the consequences.

I seem to recall POTUS Bush going to bat for the Speaker to have her aircraft.

IMHO she has earned an open door, out the side at great altitude and speed, no static line. Therein she could relieve herself, and the rest of the nation.
