Jaguar makes a very good point about not believing the "news" but what about that commercial for the Army? They are doing the Army Strong thing now but there was the Army of One and that looked for all the world like video central.
Don't believe the news but believe the Army commercials? The military is spending millions on this campaign. So what's the real deal here?

A bit of a leap from "news" to commercials. One is supposed to be factual, the other is marketing.....

I think that we recruit some numbers of people who fall for the video game versions of the Army and SF, and seem to think that they will do well in SF because they were able to play the game well.
On the cold water in the face side, by the time they complete OSUT and Airborne schools, they have learned that the Army is not a video game, it is very much physically demanding and real.
There is nothing wrong with playing video games for recreation, same as any other hobby, as long as you are not operating under the illusion that it represents the real world.

What they failed to realize is the majority of PC gamers that play FPS's are past the recruitment age, or at least they were. The Xbox and playstation crowd are 5 or 6 years from elegibilty and the one's old enough to enlist are more worried about getting laid, for the most part. I still don't think they understand this.
The cost of putting out a quality game like America's Army didn't justify the recruitment return, IMO.
