I concur, there seems to be a disconnect somewhere between intention and perception. No one on this board would ever think that rank has anything to do with leadership or leadership potential within Special Forces, or in the rest of the Army for that matter. Decisions on whether to follow an officer or enlisted career path are personal in nature and from my limited experience have absolutely nothing to do with whether or not a person is a good leader or has leadership potential. If anyone wants to pursue this particular discussion or explore observations or opinions on this subject then let me know and I'll start a new thread.

Airborne,
Hey all...hope things are going well. I am a student at Purdue University and currently in the ARNG in 151 INF DET (LRS). I graduate and ETS in December and currently signing up for active duty 18X. I am looking for a mentor to help me through the pipeline and with questions.

Can't comment on 10th Group life, but I can assure you that life in Colorado is going to be much different than what you are used to.

Mountains, blue skies, no humidity, less congested, affordable housing. Colorado Springs is within an hour of everything!

new guy

My name is Neil. I am about to start my journey to becoma a Green Beret. I am very psyched about everything that is going on. I am going to be an 18E with 7th group. I am going to be going to jump school in January, and the rest of the course will start in February. If anyone has any hints to help me out with the course, that would be greatly appretiated. I know that things are always changing, but any little bit of information would help.

Thanks,
Neil

That's awesome, I can't wait to go out there. I heard from a study done by a marriage counsler that out of all the posts gone to, everyone who lived in CO, their marriage was the best out there, and Bragg was the worst...

Hello

Hello everyone,
I joined the reserves in 98 as a 88m, wanted to do more, so I reclassed to 31b(95b), got deployed march 03 to Iraq worked for a year as a team leader running convoy escorts, was injured, sent back to the states, went through a divorce, currently waiting to get off med hold after next operation, 8 yr contract over on 27aug, I Couldn't be happier with my life right now. I know I'm a lifer when it comes to the army. I already finished school with a BFA, and have worked in the IT business for years. So now I'm just trying to figure out where I'm headed. I know I want to stay in the AR or NG, I don't believe in you can only do one thing in life. So as part of my research I read "Get Selected" which brought me to this site. I'm using this time I have left on med hold to prepare physically and mentally for SFAS, and for whatever comes my way in life. I'm going to re-enlist over to the FL-NG into the 20th SFG, I will do my best to become a 18E and go on from there with no regrets. Ether way I'm staying in for life. I'm looking forward to getting as much "from the horses mouth" info I can get. I appreciate the chance to be a part of this community and thanks for having me as a guest.
Cheers

Cooler......

Perhaps you may be able to contribute to this site.

For one, we have no clue. Razor took it easy on you. You didn't fill out your profile. I was late getting here, but was pointed this direction by a long time member on this board. Thanks RC.

It would BEHOOVE you ( one of my all time, back in Basic Training, Smokey sayings ) to read the simple instructions and stickies pertaining to filling out your profile. Post Haste might be too slow. Others will follow............. I'm older, nicer, gentler, kinder. Wow! I just amazed myself with that BS.

Trying to help you out here Cooler.

Gentleman, my name is Clay Moore. I am 27 years old, and have been in the Wyoming National Guard for about 10 years now with about 5 ½ active and about 4 in a drilling status. I’m an AGR Supply Sergeant for a Field Artillery Battalion, and I am looking to pursue my dream of Special Forces. I’m not getting any younger, and I don’t enjoy my current career field, so I have decided that it is time to act. I’m currently deployed in Iraq, using every ounce of down time to research and prepare for it. I am an avid fan of the Special Forces community, and everything they do. I believe Special Forces are an excellent part of a solution for our current world situation, and I want to be part of it. That being said I must say this is an extremely informative site, and thanks to all who are willing to share with the less informed.

Good Day All,

I am a reitred E-8 that had spent my last 12.5 years of military service in 5th SFG(A). Started my military career as a 19E then switched to 19K when M1A1s started rolling out. After being a tanker for awhile decided to make the jump to SF. Had a lot of fun while being on a team. Participated in Desert Shield/Storm, Somolia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan as well as numerous peace related missions throughout the Middle East. Been to alot of places that probably will never go back to. Now I work as a contractor on Ft Hood working on Force 21 battlefield computer systems. Came across this site while searching for SF related sites on the internet. Hope to make some contibutions to the site and answer questions regarding SF life for those wannabes.
