Intro
I have been lurking for a while now and finally got around to writing my first post. I'm currently working in NYC. I'm at the tail end of 25 yrs old. I've met with NG recruiters for the 20th (Springfield, MA) and am seriously considering applying for the Rep 63.
I've been collecting as much information as possible from scattered sources on the web, including this site, in preparation for SFAS, etc. I've ordered "Get Selected For Special Forces" too, which should be a lot of help once it arrives. A major difficulty I'm having now is finding the time to fit in PT with my work schedule (which is ridiculously erratic and long) and a way to do rucksack marches in Central Park without scaring people (i.e., post-London bombings with an obviously heavy backpack in the middle of a city).
There is more info on my public profile.
Thank you for making this site!

First of all, nice site....vbulletin is well skinned, portal is slick....well done.
I am 25, about to finish college with a degree in IT with a networking concentration. I am considering an 18x enlistment after this semester. I have bought the "Get Selected for Special Forces" as well as a pair of boots and a Ruck. My dad was in SF and has somewhat told me what I am in for.

Do you really want to make it? Do ya? Then you need to find a way to reverse that statement. Something along the lines of, "A major difficulty I'm having now is finding the time to fit in work with my PT schedule, so I quit my job and now I eat roadkill and live in a cave ( JK, but not much)." Yes, it requires a certain amount of fanaticism. As for the ruck, try painting it pink and wear Speedos, but use a large ALICE. That should about do it for Central Park. If you need more camo, get one of those yappie little poodles and let him stick his head out the top. You could even paint him pink too. But watch him, I have it on good authority they can be vicious and have been known to lay traps.
GnP,
We'll pass your approving comments on to the Web Design and Blow Things Up Committee. Thank you for your kind words.
Welcome aboard all FNGs. Please make sure you read all the stickies.
Oh, and do have a very SF Day.

introduction...
hello all,
i have been interested in sf since i was a baby...am a recent college graduate. come from a family with a long history of distinguished military service and plan on carrying on the tradition. the only questions that remain is how and...well how. as of this moment i am evaluating my options and will make a decision no later than January. i may stick to lurking, but would like to thank all for the advice and information, because regardless of whether i go sf, non-sf, or another branch entirely, good skills are just that. thanks to all for these forums and all the information gained therein.

During your reading assignments in Psychology, did you ever come across the name Nancy Andreasen?
Just curious.

The name isn't familiar, but that doesn't mean much. I spent most of my studies focusing on cognitive psych. and particularly focused on things like personality assessment and prediction.
What is her area of interest / what has she published? There is a good chance that among the millions of research articles I’ve read over the years, she has been buried somewhere along the way.

Hello,
i am not in the military myself, but grew up in a military family and have had interest in SF ever since. I am interested in medical and survival issues, since i am a beleiver of "basics" that are increasingly disappearing... I have no great skill or knowledge in these fields, but i like to learn.....
Great Forum you guys have here, specially enjoy the "get to the point" attitude......a rarity in the net.

Howdy.
I am an over 50 NON-VET.I don't intend to post much (bet you heard that before.)
just interested.
I have studied for the priesthood for 1 year at Divine Word Seminary. After 1 year I realized no way for the religious life.Been married 3 times, been in prison for 3 years, and all points in between.
Worked as an ordnance civilian for the Navy, done everything from paint houses to driving trucks. Also got a few college credits in between. As you can see,I have trouble staying the course. Not complaining, just telling the truth.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
