Back in the olden days . . . as a skier in Germany with a gret guide to the resorts of Europe and a van, come friday afternoons my buddies and I were often seen stocking the up for the trip to someplace less then 10 hours drive away. Lots of ice chests and lots of beer and sandwich makings and sleeping bags and beer and chips and skis and beer and warm clothes. Bn XO a really grumpy guy (who was an excelent skier) interupted our packing one day:
XO What are you doing?
US Going skiing, Sir.
XO Where?
US The Eiger, Sir.
XO That's a lot of beer.
US No Sir . . . I mean Yes, Sir.
XO Do you know what will happen to all of you if someone gets stupid and gets arrested?
US No Sir.
XO Nothin. Cuz I'm not coming to get you. And I'm not going to allow anyone to get you. We'll list you as deserters and drop you from the rolls.
US Yes, Sir
XO Have fun.
We understood the rules of the game. And played by them.

Shortchanging by Secret Service Draws Strong Rebuke
NEW YORK – Days after Secret Service agents shortchanged a group of prostitutes in Colombia, the international trade group representing hookers downgraded the United States’ credit rating from AAA to B.
The strong rebuke from the International Alliance of Professional Escorts came after a Secret Service agent reportedly paid one of its members $30 for an $800 service, or only 4% of the stated price.
The statement from the International Alliance of Professional Escorts said that in downgrading the United States’ credit rating it was sending a clear message that its “members should be aware that doing business with the government of the United States carries with it a significant risk.”
“We are urging our members to avoid conducting transactions with the United States and to focus on more reliable customers, like the International Monetary Fund,” the statement added.
Just hours after the announcement from the escorts’ group, the U.S. Congress passed the following resolution blasting the Secret Service for its actions: “We strongly denounce the Secret Service for consorting with prostitutes, which has traditionally been Congress's role.”
But it was not all bad news this week for the Secret Service, which today reported a 5000% jump in enlistment.

Sen. Collins claims Secret Service prostitution scandal wider than believed
Long article, but read the very last sentence, the one that states the Secret Service Rat's out the DEA.......
I can see the Secret Service agents now; "But Mom, there were Green Berets and DEA agents doing it too!!!!!!!
Priceless.
Sen. Collins claims Secret Service prostitution scandal wider than believed
WASHINGTON – Several small groups of Secret Service employees separately visited clubs, bars and brothels in Colombia prior to a visit by President Barack Obama last month and engaged in reckless, "morally repugnant" behavior, Sen. Susan Collins says.
She says the employees' actions during the stunning prostitution scandal could have provided a foreign intelligence service, drug cartels or other criminals with opportunities for blackmail or coercion that could have threatened the president's safety.
In remarks prepared for the first congressional hearing on the matter Wednesday, Collins, R-Maine, also challenged early assurances that the scandal in Colombia appeared to be an isolated incident. She noted that two participants were Secret Service supervisors -- one with 21 years of service and the other with 22 years -- and both were married. Their involvement "surely sends a message to the rank and file that this kind of activity is tolerated on the road," Collins said.
"This was not a one-time event," said Collins, the senior Republican on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. "The circumstances unfortunately suggest an issue of culture."
continued:
Last paragraph;
This week the Drug Enforcement Administration said the Justice Department's Office of the Inspector General was investigating possible misconduct by two or more agents in Colombia. Collins revealed that the case involved at least two DEA employees who entertained female masseuses in the Cartagena apartment of one of the DEA agents. The investigation is unrelated to the Secret Service scandal but is based on information provided to the DEA by the Secret Service.

The difference is that only one agency is working, pumping for info, and looking to further the relationship into something more long term and benificial.

What law was broken, really?
We tell deployed LEOs and military it is okay to sodomize one another, but don't drink alcohol or have sex with a hooker in a country where it is perfectly legal.
Who came up with this moral code, the Dims?

The Secret Service issued new rules of conduct for agents last Friday.
They can no longer get drunk, procure hookers or go to strip bars. The rules say that from now on, if agents feel compelled to engage in such behavior, they can run for public office like everyone else.
And so it goes...

Secret Service agent kills self amid affair probe
Posted: Nov 01, 2012 3:18 PM MST Updated: Nov 01, 2012 3:18 PM MST
By ALICIA A. CALDWELL
WASHINGTON (AP) — A senior Secret Service agent being formally investigated by the government for failing to disclose a long-standing relationship with a foreign citizen killed himself last week.
People familiar with the matter say Rafael Prieto, a married father assigned to President Barack Obama's security detail, acknowledged the affair after U.S. authorities began investigating. These people spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss Prieto's death or the investigation.
The sources say Prieto's relationship was revealed to Secret Service investigators by an agent who had been entangled in the Colombian prostitution scandal earlier this year. That agent was concerned that the Secret Service wasn't enforcing its rules consistently.
It is against Secret Service rules to have a relationship with a foreign citizen and not tell the agency.

Was it always this way or is this administration scrapping the bottom of the SS barrel?

AFAIK, Its been that way (IDing any relationships with foreign nationals to maintain a security clearance) for at least the last 20 years.
