So you do not believe that significant outside influences and restrictions were a factor for that operation failing?
What I got from the book that they were conducting the operation to their best ability, given the circumstances and OBL slipped away from their grasp at that time.
Luckily he is sleeping with the fishes now.
Are you going to be at SHOT? I am pretty sure I am coming over, we could get a beer or two.

Tuuka you're killing me.......
We have rules we fight by..... we can not always employ all the weapons in our arsenal to kill or capture the bad men.
We try to limit collateral damage, we will not kill or wound a thousand civilians to capture one bad guy.
Greer failed in his leadership role, period.

TS, I am trying not to aggravate you and you probably know my posting history, I usually follow the discussions more than post.
Where did the killing of a thousand civilians come into the discussion?
Im with you about liming collateral damage, which was also quite evident in the operation into Pakistan, they could have pounded the compound from the air, but the decision was made to conduct a SOF operation.

Tuukka, The US Military is not going to lay mines all over a mountain or mountain range to "stop" one bad man. If I recall this is what the young Captain Greer wanted done inorder to capture bin laden.

Gotcha, I checked that and that option was suggested by a another officer than Greer. Just thinking what the altitudes were and how many civilians would have been using those passes?
Anyway, if you are at SHOT, lets link up and we can hash this over a beer

Seems after two years the FBI will not investigate Thomas Greer aka Dalton Fury for extortion/ blackmail. Oh yes Thomas Greer, the day you sent me the email I sent it to the FBI and I know they have a record because I spoke with them. The day Michael Yon sent me another email I also sent it to the FBI. I'm done waiting for the FBI to assist, now I will make all your emails public knowledge.
I will publish all their emails and his attempted blackmail for all to see.
Please don't forget George Hand, he was also a big part of this blackmail. I received his emails/blackmails from the DOE, Department of Energy.
Michael Yon was part of Thomas Greer's attempted blackmail.
Yes Michael Yon I also have all your emails.
Dalton Fury (aka Thomas Greer), Michael Yon and George Hand, your conspiracy to commit blackmail is well documented.
Pain is forthwith.
Now we have fun.

Team Sgt,
PM me if interested. Just because a lazy s.a. at a field office won't investigate something is by no means your end...a lot more avenues to get a criminal investigation, arrest, etc.
The feds want everything gift-wrapped and even then they claim the ausa or whoever won't take the case even though they refuse an arrest. It doesn't, fortunately, end with their incident report not cleared by arrest.
I have no clue what your specific situation entails, but if you are a crime victim and you have the basis of proof then we can find an agency or a leo to effectuate arrest, or find a prosecutor to directly file charges and setup an arraignment pursuant to written charges.

The FBI were sent all emails received by me from Michael Yon, Thomas Greer (aka Dalton Fury) and George Hand. The FBI has decided not to act.
All three were involved in a conspiracy to extort and blackmail me, all three know it.
Thomas Greer sent me another email two days ago stating he's in the middle of writing his third novel and this will give him more advertising for his book.
Well Thomas Greer, aka Dalton Fury, George Hand and Michael Yon I'm telling the world you were involved in a blackmail attempt against me, now sue me if it's not true.
All three of you are bottom feeding lowlife's. And guess what words getting out what you attempted to do, enjoy the fame.

He Hunted Osama bin Laden, He Breaks Into Nuclear-Power Plants
The unlikely career of Dalton Fury
Delta Force lore has it that when the Army is filling its elite Special Operations unit, it looks not just to those who are the best, but to those who are the best at blending in. As the onetime Delta Force commander Dalton Fury puts it in his new counterterrorism thriller, Full Assault Mode, the ideal Delta operator is “a chameleon”—someone who looks “as normal as the next guy on the street corner.”
It’s a clear February evening, and I’m scanning the parking lot of a chain barbecue restaurant, looking for Fury. We are supposed to have dinner, if I can just find him—or rather, the person who goes by that name. Dalton Fury is my subject’s pen name; he has asked me not to use his real one in this article. Nor am I to identify the midsize southern town where we are meeting. The man is more than a little shy of attention: when Fury appeared on 60 Minutes in 2008 to discuss his part in the battle of Tora Bora—he commanded the Delta Force team charged at the time with hunting down Osama bin Laden—he was concealed by full special-effects makeup, complete with a Duck Dynasty–style beard.

Tom was a Ranger and Delta Force Commander in the US Army. He is a NY Times best selling author under the pen name Dalton Fury. He has a wife and two children. On August 21, 2016 he was diagnosed with inoperable cancer that doctors say can't be treated. Tom, his family, and friends are believing for a miracle. All prayers and encouragements are appreciated.

Maj. Greer's dad passed away on Oct 5th. From Steve's posts it sounds like Tom is still alive as of today but does not have much time left. All my best wishes for Tom's wife, kids, and brother. So sudden.
