Arkansas Editor Posts List Of Concealed Carry Permit Holders Online

The AR state legislature passed a law prohibiting the disclosure of CC permit holders and the Lt. Governor signed the bill into law. During the interim of the passage and the signing Gwen Moritz posted the names of CC holders. The list has been removed but is available on request. This action on her part has placed a lot of people in a potential risky environment, as was demonstrated by the actions of a New York paper and the resulting burglaries.

				Arkansas editor apology

She was an idiot. And, I'm not one of the overly forgiving types. However, I do like the tone of her apology.

She repeatedly references government transparency. I fail do see what posting details of CCW permit holders (individual law abiding citizens) has to do with government transparency. But I'm just a dumbass knifemaker, so what do I know?

If you actually take the time to read that screed, you'll see it's not an apology at all. It's like forced attrition. Look at the language. She isn't sorry because she thinks she's done something wrong, she's sorry because she's experienced unpleasant repercussions to her actions.

She is also engaging in a typical liberal tactic, which is to insult and belittle those she disagrees with. Note the repeated references to gun owners as being fearful and living in terror. The insinuation being that they are inferior to enlightened individuals such as herself.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet that she isn't an AR native...

			You can't fix stupid.

But in her case you can boycott every sponsor and advertiser listed on that "activist newspaper".

People need to wake up, these are not reporters, journalists and editors they are in fact "political activists" with a definite agenda.

That is exactly the impression I had after reading it as well. She did not learn that publishing the information was a bad idea for a variety of reasons and evens mentions that she still believes it needs to be publicly available.

She is only sorry that so many called her out and her address and phone number became so easily available to so many.

			I liked this part:

Lesson No. 4: They don’t want to hurt me. As far as I know, I haven’t received any actual death threats, not even from the people who thought it was a proportional response to post directions to my house on the Internet. This remarkable fact underscores a point that gun aficionados have tried to make until they are blue in the face: They are not criminals. They posted my personal information all over the Internet in hopes that I would feel as vulnerable and exposed to criminals as they do. They seek to intimidate me as they feel they have been intimidated, to bully me in response to what they see as my bullying. They might think I deserve to become the target of crime because they feel I have made them targets. But the people who are angry with me do not seem to want to hurt me, because they truly see themselves as the good guys with guns. This, I think, may be the most valuable lesson I can share with the people who are concerned about my safety.

Advertisers got pissed and vocally started to drop advertising....not good in a business paper. I'll bet this is the true reason for her contrite and fake apology.

 Could not agree more.

"Editor Integrity " Gwen Moritz has absolutely zero integrity.

I'd also bet the some of the emails and calls she received were the advertisers for the activist newspaper she works for...... money talks doesn't it Gwen Moritz.

What a bottom feeding scumbag.

The parts highlighted in green are the most telling part of this whole "mea culpa"...even in this part (Lesson 4) it is how the gun owners "feel" vs. the actual harm done by her and her mistakes, and further obfuscation of her missteps rather than her comprehending that her actions have ramifications and consequences...

"posted my information...in hopes that I would feel as vulnerable and exposed to criminals as they do..." (her subtext: gun owners see boogey men)

"...to bully me in response to what they see as my bullying..." (subtext: I didn't bully them, but gun owners think I did)

"They might think I deserve to become the target of crime because they feel I have made them targets..." (subtext: I didn't make them targets, they just feel like I did...)

"But the people who are angry with me do not seem to want to hurt me, because they truly see themselves as the good guys with guns..." (subtext: the crazy gun owners aren't "good guys with guns", they just see themselves that way (but I don't))

IMO, ph_ck her and that passive-aggressive non-apologetic "apology"
