RIP Colonel Moroney
It is with deep regret that the staff and members of ProfessionalSoldiers.com report the passing this morning of Jack Moroney, Colonel (Retired), Special Forces.
Colonel Moroney was a rare individual who was a warrior, mentor, leader, father, husband, and great American. He epitomized the Quiet Professional.
I was privileged to have him as a Group Commander, there was no one better at getting the job done and taking care of his people than Colonel Moroney. Woe to anyone who attempted to mess with his people, or Special Forces.
He was a friend who could be counted on and an inspiration who led from the front.
I am proud to have known him, and the world is a lesser place without him.
RIP, Sir. Thank you for your exceptional service, and your friendship. You will not be forgotten.
Save a place for us on the other side. We will meet again.

I didn't know the Colonel, but I enjoyed reading his comments and I am going to miss the Colonels candor on this forum.

TR: Thank you for breaking this on the QP site. Doing that is never easy. I did not know him in person, but he vetted me for this site and, I believe we became friends through several PM conversations. When the world loses such a man, it impacts on so many places we will never know.
RIP, my friend.

Unfortunately, I did not know Colonel Moroney until I encountered his presence here. I will greatly miss that presence. Rest In Peace, sir.

Rest in well deserved peace Col. Moroney.
My thoughts and prayers are and will continue to be with you and your family.
I don't have the right words to describe the loss of a man of this rare caliber.
Col. Moroney and I shared a small thing, it was growing up and working in timber country. I think he knew more about forestry than I do.

This is sad news. I'm going to miss his wit and wisdom. His was a style of mentorship I will always strive to emulate; he epitomized the genuine, concerned, and caring FOG. The advice he dispensed freely with an occasional "pithy" comment and "pointed" guidance was always a refreshing blast of reality. He set the standard I will forever use to judge the character and motivation of anyone attempting to speak for our community. Rest in peace COL M, our prayers for your family in their time of loss.

But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Requiescat in Pace
I mourn his passing. Like many, I've only had the benefit of Colonel Moroney's counsel here on this site.
I pray for his family and those here who knew him well; now they must adjust their lives to fill the considerable gap his passing left.
We would do well to honor his memory by maintaining the high standards of this site and support the Admins and other QPs as they continue to guide the continuous pursuit of excellence.
De Oppresso Liber, sir. Thank you for all you've done for your family, the Regiment, and The Nation.

Rest in Peace, You will be missed
My Brothers,
I spoke with Colonel Moroney about 2 weeks ago and he was his usual spirited self and staying active. Just last week I had undertaken the task of submitting Colonel Moroney to SWC as my nomination for his recognition as a Distinguished Member of the Regiment. I intend to follow through. I received mail from him last week in which he provided me his SF Biography and photos from his time in uniform. I'll post them later for all to see the Warrior
"Bulldog". I had the honor of serving under his command on 2 assignments and I can personnally and truly say there was no one better. He has personally inspired my son in the military just as he has mentored many of the next generation on this site. I could fill a page with fantastic events and stories of a true Special Forces soldier. My memory of him will not fade.
PS. Please contact me PM if you're considering attending his service. Thanks Bob
