Summary:
The Black Panther Party was an African-American revolutionary leftist organization founded in Oakland, California, by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale in 1966. The Black Panther Party achieved national and international notoriety through its involvement in the Black Power movement and in U.S. politics of the 1960s and 70s. The organization initially claimed to be protecting the African American neighborhoods from police brutality, but the leaders soon claimed to be followed socialist and Maoist communist doctrines. It was active in the United States from 1966 until 1982. The New Black Panther Party was founded in Dallas in 1989 but has direct connection to the original party.VideoVideo: 1968 Black Panther leader Huey Newton.
