SGM (Ret) Joseph E. Brauch

RIP, Joe.

SGM Joseph Edward Brauch, Jr. was born April 10, 1951 at Fort Dix, NJ and passed away after a long battle with cancer on April 11, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Joe had over 30 years of formal training with expertise in classified worldwide operations and security management. Joe graduated from Wadena Senior High School in Wadena, Minnesota in 1969.

After completing Basic, AIT and Airborne training, Joe joined the Special Forces. During 7 years with 7th and 10th SF Groups, Joe served as a Chief Radio Operator, Supply Sergeant, and Special Forces Engineer Sergeant. Joe then volunteered to go to 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta. In over 16 years as an operational member of the unit, Joe served as a Team Member, Team Sergeant, Master Breacher, Instructor/Trainer, OTC NCOIC and SGM and Unit Breaching Sergeant Major.

After retiring from Active Duty, Joe served as a Security Consultant at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, a Counter-Surveillance Consultant for U.S. Embassies around the world, and Program Manager for the Center for National Response. At the time of his death, Joe was still serving the Nation as the Deputy CBRNE Chief at the Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, NC responsible fo developing, coordinating, and managing chemical and biological counterproliferation deliberate plans and policies.
