FWIW, the original version of this absolutely horrible movie caused significant controversy in the TMZ.
- First, it opened during the 1984 summer Olympics. Angelenos were concerned that the film detracted from the triumph of those games.
- Second, the movie was absolutely horrible. (The echoing silence in the half empty Cinerama Dome was broken only by derisive comments and laughter of angry--but not bitter--members of the audience.)
