Ranger School First?

My son is entering his senior year in college on an Army ROTC scholarship at Texas A&M. Barring something unforseen, he will be commissioned in May of 2011 after graduation. Ultimately he wants to go into special forces. My question is the pipeline to make this happen. Would it be better for him to go through Ranger School first and gain that valuable experience or try to go directly into the Special Forces training pipeline? He hopes to commission into a Combat Arms branch. Thanks.
