Yemen - An Overview
A failed attempt to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner has put homeland security operations back on the front pages. But the Nigerian suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, also has thrown back the curtain on Yemen, the relatively obscure Middle Eastern country where he reportedly trained. Points turned to Robert Jordan, who served as U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 2001 to 2003 to explain more about Yemen, a Saudi neighbor.
