Tax Credits for hiring Vets

I went to a seminar and found out that companies can get a tax credit (dollar for dollar) for hiring Vets who've been unemployed for 4 weeks or more.

Guys should put "tax credit eligible" somewhere in the conversation with employers. It might tip the balance in their favor getting a job.

The program applies to all unemployed veterans returning from active duty through 2008-2010 and who have been unemployed for 4 weeks or more.

This is a Federally funded program that is a state administered.
40% of first year wages, up to a cap of $2,400 if the guy works over 400 hours; 25% of first year wages, up to a cap of $1,500 for under 400 hours.

It's a program the employer applies for, not the vet. The Vet just lets the employer know there are free tax credits if he gets hired.

The guy who gave the talk is Ken Brice 888-236-7339 x 703.

He only gets paid if the company gets paid.

I have no dog in the fight. I met the guy yesterday and it sounded like something Vets should know about.
