Good day

Veterans day was a good day. First I took my brother, 1st Cav VN, to breakfast. He was thanked by a waitress who recognized the campaign ribbon and 1st Cav pin on his hat. Then we with my brothers son a Marine vet, and his family headed to one of the biggest Veterans day parades in the country. His daughters gave us all hugs and thanks, they're five and seven and they know what Veterans day is all about.

Later, at work, I got to take a WWII vet out to see a visiting flight of EA-6 prowlers on our ramp and a restored AC-47 "Spooky" nearby.

But today the news gave me a reminder there are those who'll never get it, those whose personal agenda trumps quiet honor and selfless service. Even in the face of those who do understand.

A footnote, from that undeclared war.
