A 15-year-old boy was shot dead by his classmate during a dispute at a school in Tennessee, authorities said.

Other teenagers watched in horror as the victim clutched his chest and fell to the floor.

Police have identified the victim as Ryan McDonald, who lived with his grandmother and had alopecia, a condition that left him bald and the target of endless teasing as a child.

Chief deputy Bill Roehl said the shooting happened in the cafeteria at Central High School in Knoxville. The shooting suspect was taken into custody minutes later on a nearby street.

Knox County School System superintendent Bill McIntyre said the suspect and victim knew each other.

Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk said 15-year-old Jamar Siler was charged with one count of murder.
