Is the Left Wing Destroying the Dems Before the '08 Election?

The incidence of loud and strident anti-war and anti-military events, the attempt to try key members of the Administration in kangaroo courts, the calls for impeachment, and proposed left-wing legislation lead me to believe that the Left Wing of the Democratic party was emboldened by the 2006 elections and now believes that the majority of the American people are with them, or will go along with their lunacy.

Does anyone else think that if the party leadership gives these whackos a little more rope for the next year or so, and the Republicans get their heads out of their asses, that the moderate Dems elected in the last election might find themselves out on the street, and the Dems suffer a backlash from the Independent and moderate voters in 2008?

I realize that the Republicans are at a disadvantage in defending Senate seats (again).

The anti-war wing is already causing certain Democratic candidates significant problems and negative exposure. They may rip one another (or their party) to shreds before 2008.

It just occurs to me that it is better to be strong in the presidential election years rather than in the mid-terms, and if you screw up, better do do it after the presidential elections rather than just before.

Thoughts, or am I just thinking wishfully?
