It certainly was, see my "Trumanesque" comment.

I was using Hiroshima as an historical event that was unimaginable and unprecedented in immediate alteration of lives, economy, and governmental rule. That single event ( and Nagasaki) ,arguably, even changed the people's perception of their Diety.
