Former Omaha Police Officer Suing Gun Maker Top Stories
04/09/2004 15:01:12

(Omaha, NE) -- Former Omaha Police Officer Jeffrey Holland is suing the manufacturer of a gun that he says wouldn't fire during a bank holdup. Holland had been working security at the Great Western Bank at 47th and L Street when two men tried to rob the bank in March of 2000. Holland tried to shoot one of the suspects, but he said his Glock had been hit by a bullet and jammed. He was then shot by one of the men. Holland grabbed one of the suspects to use as a shield, while trying to get his weapon to fire. Holland was shot two more times before subduing one of the robbers while the other fled. In his suit, Holland is contending that one of the reasons he purchased the Glock is because it was billed as "virtually indestructible." Holland was seriously wounded and is seeking damages for pain, suffering and medical bills. Both robbery suspects have since been convicted and are serving prison time.

But, it was under warranty!
