Request Help

Gentlemen,

Some time ago, online, I found a former SOG veteran's memoir. Evidently he had written it as part of a personal cathartic need. The thing was, the memoir as he wrote it, it was one of the most amazing personal accounts I have ever read. Just to try and ring a bell with anyone else who has come across it; he spoke of leading teams made up of mostly Jarii Montangards(did I get that right? if not, I apologize. I am going from a foggy memory here.), losing his best friend who was a native, carrying an RPK as it was a "fantastic bush weapon". He spoke of how he lost a significant amount of his comrades when thier plane carrying them out of RVN exploded on takeoff. When he got stateside, his father said Viet Nam wasn't a "real war", (Korean War Navy vet). He spoke how one of his native troops got the nod to be a team leader, and the ceremony when he got a black silk jacket with various patches and pins. He spoke of the observer pilots who had "The Finger" and could walk into a control room(?) and just point to a spot on the map and say "so-and-so team is right there".

Is this jogging any memory? Thanks to the leadership for entertaining my out-of-left-field inquiry.
