Kaepernick sits thru national anthem

49'ers choke artist Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the national anthem at the beginning of their preseason game against the Green Bay Packers last night. Here's why:

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color."

"To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

http://bit.ly/2bWAZ4v

Kaepernick has no freaking idea what oppression really is. He should also remember that freedom of expression cuts both ways.

He is a fine example of what the following quote means:

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than speak and remove all doubt."

Just another clown who I no longer have any use for -- not that I ever did to begin with.

Him -- and the NFL -- can disappear for all I care!

This is rich coming from a multi-million dollar player. Americans certainly don' have to watch the 49ers play and if they had any sense, they wouldn't.

Is this a great country or what?

What a turd. This morning the news is trying to mitigate the bad news about it and make it into a positive act.

WTF. I am so tired of the media and turds like him.

One man's freedom of speech is not like another man's freedom of speech.

Check out this article from USA TODAY:

Mariners' Steve Clevenger should be released for insensitive tweets about protesters

http://usat.ly/2d1NPxF

Mariners suspend Steve Clevenger after tweeting protesters should be treated 'like animals'

http://www.king5.com/sports/mlb/mari...mals/324745355

(Via KING 5)

I guess he 'invoked' "animals and obama" in the same tweet.

Shame the NFL didn't treat Kapernicks or all the others on that bandwagon with the same level of NIMBY attention.

I didn't think it was possible for me to stop watching football after all these years, but after the last Superbowl I can do without it.

This nonsense that's happening now reinforces that belief.

Some people just take their life as an American citizen for granted.

I heard Burgess Owens, formerly with the Jets and Raiders, yesterday say that, if Kaepernick truly believes in his cause, he should kneel through the whole game.

"All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others"...

That being said:
The mariners are nine and a half games out of first place with just ten games left in the regular season. This guy is a second or third string catcher that makes close to league minimum while the starter makes 3.5 million per year.

...in context, the season is over for this guy already.
Also don't forget that we are talking about Seattle - one of the most liberal cities in the USA. Legal recreational use of the chronic, grunge as a lifestyle, a socialist city government and well...
for fuck sake it's Seattle - enough said.

If this second string catcher from Seattle had fed a Christian or a banker or a heterosexual cis-gendered plumber to the lions as a symbolic gesture for freedom of speech to shine the light on BLM-LGBT-HIJKLMNOP then Seattle would have already retired his Jersey number as the greatest Mariner of all times.
...but he didn't. He criticized the movement.

Instead, he now has plenty of time to plan for Halloween so he can go trick-or-treating with his kids...
...maybe he will get a hiLlary klinton pants-suit and dress up like an evil librarian from outerspace

NFL taking a hit in the ratings.

They mention Kaepernick in the article, but seem to be shifting blame towards splintering of media channels beyond television(which is true).

My friends and family in the US who follow NFL all seem to be much more low key on social media this season(although it's fairly early in the season).

I reckon the Kaepernick story is helping turn the comfortable community distraction of the NFL into a bitter pill.

Players thinking of future participation should really be aware of ad buyer concerns or they're in for an interesting surprise.

I like Aussie band AC/DC.

They've articulated that they have no political opinions. They are entertainers with blue collar roots. They work hard to entertain their audiences who worked hard for their money to attend concerts.

The last thing people want to do with their precious and limited money and free time is be involuntarily preached to.

I'm glad to see it. I'm as much a supporter of women's health as the next guy but seeing a bunch of yoked up dudes bashing into each other on the line, wearing pink socks and gloves absolutely neutered any interest I had in the NFL.

I also hope that its the stupid political activism that is hurting them in the rankings.

"The NFL; fifteen thousand people who need to exercise watching 30 people who need a cheeseburger." - don't remember.

I suggest the problem is a lack of leadership, from the coaches, team owners and the NFL. They could have very simply ended this controversy by cutting anyone from the team that kneels during the anthem. They won’t, which I believe is a grave miscalculation.

They have bowed at the altar of political correctness, likely believing that was the smart financial decision. They are pandering to the social justice warriors (how many SJW’s actually watch football?), and taking their fan base for granted; A fan base that doesn’t watch NFL football to be preached to by overpaid man-boys.

I was an avid fan of Major League baseball, prior to the 1994-1995 baseball strike. I have not paid to see a game since and I no longer spend my valuable leisure time watching baseball on television.

Until the NFL, team owners and coaches put an end to players using our national anthem to express solidarity with the racist and Marxist Black Lives Matter movement, I will never watch an NFL game again. And yet, that still may not be enough to entice me to watch another NFL game. Ever.
