This is remarkable and truly his best statement in regards to what he opined on.

Honore said he doesn't know what steps government should take tighten controls on carrying guns — "I'm not smart enough for that," he said — but he said mass shootings "are scarring our country."

He doesn't see the irony in this -

"The best place for weapons when you're not in the field is to be locked up in the garrison," Honore' said. "Our biggest problem before Desert Storm was (soldiers) accidentally firing their weapons, and they're trained.

They were trained to do what, clean them for the millionth time, put them away under lock and key and an "ARMED" armorer?

What would Gen. Von Steuben, think of the Continental Army going home without their rifles?

And we'll, I guess he forgets to mention that unless it was the Ammo Depot the guards had no bullets -

"I don't think it's a good idea to arm military at the recruitment offices or to have civilians there with guns," Honore said. "That's the job of law enforcement. On our bases, yes, we guard our gates and our bases, but not at the recruitment offices."

Must be nice to live in Command Billets and have MPs on constant patrol...it shades the color of your glasses.

I sat with him several years ago. He told me that he would never let his people shoot a "poor person" for trashing a jewelery store, liquor store or for stealing from the "rich" An hour later he spoke to a group that was attending an insurance training class. IMO he is the same kind of Liberal as Westley Clark. Nothing he said in the class changed my mind.

I had seen him in NOLA after Katrine, he was leading around an Army of reporters and I was working as an insurance adjuster. The people that lost their inventor to the savages were for the most part middle class.

He may be positioning for a political appointment.

Not becase it's right and that citizens property that is not being taken to save life or limb doesnt deserve better protection, from opportunistic predators, but because it's not worth the risk of being hung out to dry and prosecuted.

With the current state if this country I agree with you. There was a time when lawless savages were not allowed to run wild. It shouldn't have been necessary to send the 82od to NOLA, but between the Mayor, Governor and a poorly run police department I don't have a good answer.
