Congressmen urging Generals to resign in protest of Obama's policy.

Politically strong-arming the President of the United States...That's a hell of a thing to attempt. Seems very close to treason...

While I disagree with our President and would love nothing more than to see him replaced with someone stronger and more capable, leaving our Military leaderless in a time where our enemy is wreaking havoc all over the world, well that's just plain stupid.

Not even remotely close to treason. Being a leader means that you sometimes have to do something that's unpopular because it's the right thing to do. He's been advised by the military leadership to put troops on the ground, but he won't do so because it's politically unpopular and there's an election coming up. Sorry, but in my book refusing to listen to the advice of professionals in the face of an serious external threat simply because it's politically expedient is the thing that borders on treason not asking generals who are upset to consider resigning.

I agree completely that Obama needs to listen to the professionals but it doesn't change the fact that these congressmen are playing with fire. Let's say they do get the military's leadership to resign, it could either have an effective outcome, or it could blow up quite literally in our faces. Now to be clear, if the Generals deem it necessary than fine, but I don't trust politicians (who also happen to be running for office) using this for their political gain either. They're both playing games and that needs to stop.

Yep. Wish more would do it.

It's not a 'simple' issue to resolve - never has been, which is why our system of government was created and adopted by its founding membership.

Everybody is pretty much aware of Truman and MacArthur, but Ike had his issues, too.

As for resigning in protest - I don't see any congresscritters resigning over any of this.

And so it goes...

Its a pretty noble gesture for a politician who will get a lifetime paycheck for serving one term to ask a man who has given his entire adult for a retirement check that is laughable when compared to the sweet deal that the congressman is getting...
...sure thing bro'
I'll pack my shit today.

Thats the same fucking line of thinking that creates suicide bombers.
"dude, you should totally blow your self up to make a statement"
"dude, you should totally resign to make a statement"

....I would do it my self, but I'm too important to the movement.

OMFG our elected representatives aren't worth a popcorn fart...
