Do not break into others homes, in MN.

Wow! I fully support shooting criminals that break into your house armed or not (i.e. Castle Doc) but execution takes it a few steps far. Also, first rule when talking to police is have a lawyer present. Even cops get to have a lawyer after they have shot someone in the line of duty. This guy described the shooting like a serial killer. I was actually surprised he didn't say he ate pieces of them.

But Liberty Nunn, a Little Falls resident who said she knew Nicholas Brady's older sister, said Smith could have simply shouted at them to stop. She said she hopes Smith goes to prison "for a very, very long time."

"Those are two young lives that were taken," she said. "It's just not right."
2 wrongs do not make a right. How about we start with those kids not B&E in the first place....They wouldn't be dead if, simply, they were not there.

Part two after shooting someone in your home, call the police and shut the F up.

Man - I've been looking for a new bedtime story for the kids...I may have just found it.

Nothing like a happy ending to let them go to sleep all snuggly and peaceful.

Bottom line: Don't want to get killed? Don't commit crimes against armed citizens.

While they "may" have broken into his house I don't believe the old guys story..... no 17 y/o girl is going down into a basement that she just heard shots fired and her friend scream.

Old guy just might be a serial killer.....

OK - since we're getting all serious now, this cat is in a whole bunch of trouble. he failed to exercise proper target identification (shot at "torso's"); failed to properly articulate the threat; failed to notify authorities; utilized excessive force (used deadly force when "potential" threat had been eliminated); etc.

Not to mention that he appears to be lying about how this went down and setting up an ambush situation.

I have no issues with protecting the homestead. BUT...if you're going to play around with deadly force, you'd best know the rules and application(s).

Good observation TS. It's not always what's written in the article, but sometimes what's not in it. Like IPB, the presence AND absence of something can be an indicator...

...why was he dragging theme around after shooting them? and waiting a day to report it to the cops... Sounds like what happens when people try to come up with a story.

Might want to check the house for clown paintings.
