SFAS for Assets, a Taste of the Suck

If any of you assets, non-SF people, want to sample some SFAS/Selection-like training, I recommend a GORUCK Challenge.

Go to GORUCK.com to check it out. It is essentially 12 to 13 hours and 15 to 20 miles of SFAS-like pain and glory. You carry a ruck. But no weapon, not even a rubber 16 or AK. Which is good.

I did one about 2 months ago. Kicked my ass. But I am 50 and most of my class were 20s and 30s, some 40s. It's a ball buster. Def modeled after SFQC training, esp. SFAS. Had a few flashbacks. Cursed myself allot. Felt great afterwards for finishing. Most people that do one do more than one.

To do this you have to be fit, have to train, have to carry a ruck around to get your back and shoulders ready, and lifting and running and whatever else. Allot of these GRCers tend to be CrossFitters (Workout with CrossFit).

I'm not marketing for GORUCK. I dont work for them. Just throwing this out there for anyone maybe interested.

And you SF guys, it's a good gut check, see if you can still do that sort of thang. And GORUCK hires former SF guys to be their cadre, the guys who lead the GRC classes. Cadre have to be former SOF.

Thank you for posting this.

If anyone is signing up for the Houston event in February, PM me, I'd like to arrange a beer night.

Steve

MoFo, thanks for this. I have heard of GORUCK, but I figured it was a NE thing only. I didnt know that they had it down south also. I just swore in on Tuesday, and will ship out Feb 20th for Basic. I got my 18X contract, so it's just a matter of time before I reach SFAS. Does anyone think it would be a bad idea to do this challenge 19 days before I ship out?

Sterinn, PM sent.

Thanks,
Mate
