I couldn't think of anything for that

Posting Virgin Mary as high visibility conservative ideal on professionalsoldiers.com to elicit conservative religious debate =
Trolling & Possible Banning

Go ahead post another religious situation and call it a "high visibility conservative ideal" see what happens.

I'm not following.

How is the DI saying "Private Joker, do you believe in Ronald Regan's policies?" an attempt to elicit conservative religious debate?

I didn't think this had anything to do with religion. But for future reference, is religion off limits in the Comedy Zone?

Ronald Regan's policies? Please connect his policies to this movie. What left wing Professor told you this?

Full Metal Jacket

Let me inform all here.

Jesus was the most radical, liberal, social revolutionary idealist of his day. His good mother, step father and half brother James also quite the social mis-interpreted lot.

Bless them all.

Post away Team Sergeant.....

I've got your back!

It was meant to be any right wing hot topic not just President Regan's ideals.

A different example would be me going on a Dodgers fansite and being asked if I love dodger blue. I express my undying love for the Giants, the forum punches me a couple times, and has me research the winning history of the Dodgers to in theory show me that the Dodgers are the better team. I learn more about the dodgers.

The Drill instructor represents the site, the issue can be anything I don't agree with. PVT Joker eventually learns by teaching PVT Pile.

I am a registered IND and consider myself a moderate.

I had no intention of this being about religion. A wise man once said "if you have to explain your jokes, they suck." I'll be burning my comedian card tonight. But I will retake the course, and get another one.

I apologize to anyone that found my post offensive.

TS--

IMO, your posts in this thread are consistent with prior posts in which you strongly discourage conversations/debate about western religions--especially Christianity. MOO, the wisdom of that approach is self evident.

As for the thread, my thoughts are these.

If someone has to explain his joke, then the joke isn't funny.

There is ample evidence that this type of "joke" would not work and that many members of this BB would find it distasteful. (The search button is our friend.)

The fact that this forum is the comedy zone should not over ride the broader sensibilities of this BB.

My two cents.

How about when you're trying to explain it to a blonde?

"It was meant to be any right wing hot topic not just President Regan's ideals."

Any "right-wing" topic..... you really should stop watching the "saturday night live" show.

Your perspective is askew and you don't even realize it.

The video clip could not depict any hotly debated "left-wing" topic? (or for that matter any "hot" topic?)

I really could care less if you are a card carrying member of the World Socialist Movement and go bowling with george soros every Thursday night. The next time you post you'd better take a minute and answer the 5 w's of why you're posting. What is my point to this post I am making on ProfessionalSoldiers.

In my opinion your post is a clear example of regurgitating "what to think" and not "how to think". Your left-wing professors would be proud.

If you wish to take shots at the right-wing, left-wing, etc. be a man and come straight to the point, but be prepared to defend your point of view.

You now have my full attention and that of a few others.

"strongly discourage conversations/debate about western religions--especially Christianity"

I discourage religious discussion (on this BB) for one simple reason, it's the same as discussing who makes the best beer, it's a matter of personal belief & opinion. I don't care what beer you prefer, drink, enjoy it and keep it to yourself. If you feel the need to discuss your beer preference there are thousands of bulletin boards on the internet that would entertain your thoughts and opinions.

islam is a different story as I and many other believe it's not a religion but in fact a dangerous ideology and consequently worthy of discussion.

Your intent is not to contribute knowledge and expertise, but to challenge your basic assumptions of the membership, to engage us with your rich sophomoric and clichéd humor; while exhibiting if you will, the psychological character flaw of suicide by cop syndrome, whereby you goad the Mods to place your ruck sack in the hall for your blatant disrespectfulness, thinking incorrectly that by inference, you’ll skate on through with your weak ploy of intellectual ping pong.

Like other’s before you, they also ask for assistance in placing their pseudo ruck in the hall.

The two quotes from your last post in the comedy thread you example the premise of your response and participation here.

Quote:
The general reaction to my comedy post and explanation can be summed up by this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpuRcmPnSTM

So the intent of having productive debate is met and if an undesirable has his ruck cast out into the hall another with a similar view can take that person's place and continue the mission. I think that's why this place is so alluring to people. The broader sensibilities of the board can be challenged, even if it is at risk to ones internet persona.
Bye

Why would I want to get hit by the banhammer if I obviously like the place? My response was in regards to Sigaba's view of the Comedy Zone and the board as a whole. I really didn't think any of this was serious until Team Sergeant's initial response.

As for blatant dis-respectfulness, after apologizing for putting up the thread, I don't see it.
