Thailand

Not sure whether this is a serious flare-up or not, but just want to make sure our guys over there are OK. Let us know if you need anything.

Hi ho, hi ho, it's back to Patpong we go...

Protesters in Thai Capital Retreat

Exhausted and outnumbered by government troops, anti-government protesters ended weeks of street demonstrations Tuesday, offering a respite for Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva after street battles Monday that left 2 people dead and 123 injured.

The collapse of the protest is a mitigated victory for the government, which kept its promise not to evict the protesters by violence, but which suffered the deeply embarrassing incursion by protesters into a regional summit meeting on Saturday, forcing the meeting’s cancellation.

They are pretty much right on time, every ten years there is an uprising in Thailand....

I wouldn't be too concerned. This is pretty much a relatively small group financed by an outcast that continues to try and keep turmoil going in an effort to create an environment in which he can return without going to jail. This last set of protests resulted in the protesters pissing off Bangkok residents who are fed up with them. Although there is the possibility of a flare-up, at this point, I think it is more likely that Thailand will return to normalcy (for here).

Glad you are still in one piece and not hold up in a local bar defending the reputations of the young Lady's from the Hoard in the street.

Hope you and the other QP's there are fine. Always need a Safe House at TDY Sites.
