Lightbulb VOIP, Vonage, Skype, MagicJack being blocked

Many service Providers and Countries are blocking VOIP and Skype Service. Some countries do it to control the population and others do it to keep their national Telecom Providers from losing money.

Here is a tip to get by this obstacle.

Get a VPN service for your use and you can then connect and use the VOIP service and also surf without anyone being able to see you activity. I was prompted to look into this on a few TDY's since my VOIP phone would not work in Paraguay.

I am using now a VPN provider that has solved our problem in Paraguay and Panama.

You can use a Banana VPN service to get through the blocked ports and use Vonage, MagicJack and even Skype.

There are several company's out there that sell the same type of service but The difference with them is that they will let you use it on your PC and on your laptop when you travel. Many of the other providers do not. That means you only have one payment per month instead of 2+ if you live in another country.

They have a special at $14 a month and then you can use the VOIP provider you want.

If you want check them out and see if they fit your needs:
Hope this helps someone out there stay in touch. My MagicJack has helped me get back in-touch with friends and Family and I do not want to lose that as I travel.

Here is a small list so if you are traveling there you will know:

Belize Telecommunications Limited (BTL)
Cable & Wireless, Caribbean (UK Based)
Clearwire, USA
China
Guyana
Kuwait (Qualitynet), Egypt, Jordan, Syria
Madison River USA
Malayisa
Omantel in Oman
Panama
Pakistan
Paraguay
Qtel in Qatar
Shanghai Telecom
Singapore (Singtel)
South Korea
TELMEX, Mexico
Turkey
Thailand
UAE’s incumbent telco, Etisalat

Okay, I know I am a strawberry blonde. That means I am half confused..but
I use Skype to call pc to pc.. Am I understanding this correctly it is a phone that is blocked not me using my pc to call a freind in another country on thier pc? I use skype to talk to freinds who are cruising on thier sailboats and my "kids" when they are deployed..

Yeah staying in contact is awesome. Sometimes I agree with Richard though, we are too connected..
Stay safe and thanks for dumbing it down for the half blonde.

OK here it is in Hopefully Plain English.

Some service providers and Countries block (Skype/Vonage/MagicJack). They are all PC based VOIP systems. If you or a person you are calling via one of these systems is in a country that is blocking VOIP access you need to use a VPN to make a tunnel through the INTERNET which hides the Port your system needs. All 3 are a little different in how they work but they give access to people that some countries do not want.

If some one is having problems getting through get the service and you are back in business.

If your son deploys and they block access he can use this to get his Porn and VOIP access.

Hopefully that makes it Blond readable....
